Calender Operator
Duties and responsibilities
MACHINE OPERATION
- Operate the calender and its associated feed, control, inspection, cooling and take-away.
- Make appropriate adjustments to all necessary controls.
- Acts as a crew leader.
- Reports any unusual operating conditions to supervisor.
- Works with supervisors to minimize down time.
- Insures continuous operation of equipment by remaining on the job until released.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all material specifications, equipment settings, running
speeds, and schedule requirements.
- Must be able to run the calender in a safe, efficient, and cost effective manner.
QUALITY
- Works with plant personnel to establish new and/or revised specifications.
- Works to eliminate non-standard conditions.
- Reviews specifications, methods, or equipment changes to avoid off-spec material.
- Advises other members of the crew to insure knowledge of quality requirements.
COST
- Maintain a alertness for opportunities to reduce cost of material, labor, or overhead items
and make recommendations pertaining to the same to department supervisor.
SAFETY
- Knows and understands all safe operating procedures for all equipment in the Calender
department.
- Provides maximum safety for all fellow workers.
- Makes recommendations for improved or additional safeguards as needed.
- Participates in all department safety training programs as required.
HOUSEKEEPING
- Participates in all housekeeping programs as required including 5S.
