Job Purpose
This position supports the Warehouse Manager in contributing to a successful operation by daily
supervision of teammates for ever-improving safety performance, optimum productivity gain,
Lean initiatives, and cost reduction. This position may assume the role of Warehouse Manager in
his/her absence.


Duties and Responsibilities
Shipping and Receiving:

  • Controls teammate schedule based on volume of business with the support of the Warehouse

           Manager.

  • Directs work systematically through SAP Enterprise Resource Management System.
  • Delegates and supervises all work assignments for all hourly warehouse personnel.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, with focus on 5S and Gemba activities, for the

           team.

  • Establishes necessary controls to achieve efficiency and productivity gains.
  • Coordinates shipping and receiving schedules with the support of other facilities and

           departments to ensure carriers are providing expected service. Takes corrective action when
           necessary.

  • Investigates discrepancies and issues necessary corrective action.
  • Coordinates any necessary records or invoice corrections.
  • Ensure that all materials are palletized, cubed, picked and packaged prior to the arrival of the

           carriers.

  • Ensure that all shipments are packaged correctly, verified and signed off.
  • Leverage resources to ensure that carriers are loaded on time.
  • Ensure that all inbound materials are received and put away the day the product is received.
  • Ensure that restocking is done in conjunction with the location storage plan.

Administration:

  • Supports ever-improving safety performance through Bridgestone Fundamental Safety

           Activities, regularly scheduled audits, and especially through modeling expected behaviors.

  • Leads completion of line driven safety IIPs.
  • Participate in focused audits and proactive activities.
  • Identify and correct potential safety hazards.
  • Conduct monthly training as required.
  • Conduct Safety incident investigations.
  • Communicates Company and departmental policies and procedures received from the

           Warehouse Manager to teammates. Ensures these policies and procedures are properly
           enforced.

  • Oversees appropriate training and performance analysis to ensure teammates can perform

           numerous job functions.

  • Manage personnel vacation scheduling and attendance per Firestone Building Products

           policy.

  • Recommends overtime as necessary, striving to keep it to a minimum.
  • Investigates and reviews accidents/incidents and forwards to the Warehouse Manager.
  • KPI results reporting
  • Involved in the selection and hiring process of new teammates with the support of the

          Warehouse Manager.

  • Recommends disciplinary action, up to and including termination of teammates based on job

           performance and professional behavior.

  • Assumes the role of Warehouse Manager in his/her absence and makes the appropriate

           decisions to ensure the efficient operation of the facility.
Warehousing:

  • Direct teammate housekeeping activities for a safe and clean working environment.
  • Performs cycle counts and manages inventory accuracy per company policy.
  • Provide resources as needed to support the cycle count goals.
  • Encourages teammates to contribute ideas/suggestions for warehouse improvement. Reviews

           ideas/suggestions with Warehouse Manager and implements when appropriate.

  • Makes security checks of warehouse building and activity.
  • Inspect returns to determine if material can be restocked. Process returns according to the

           work standard.

  • Maintains condition and maintenance of equipment and warehouse facility to comply with

           OSHA standards.

  • Consistently reinforces safety guidelines during work activities.
  • Performs other assignments as required by the Warehouse Manager.
  • Communicates to Production the location placement for TPO membrane.
  • Back up for Warehouse Lead

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Five years of leadership and progressive responsibility experience required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of Lean principles with specific focus on

           administering and developing 5S capabilities.

  • Strong communication, computer and analytical skills needed.
  • SAP and TMS experience preferred.
  • Ability to drive a forklift required.

  • Work in changing temperature environment (hot or cold)
  • Able to work with PPE requirements.

  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  •  Able to walk, stand or sit for long periods of time
