Manufacturing Engineer
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Corporate Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for working with vendors on new automation for current production and new products, cell layouts, Kaizen events, equipment specifications and continuous improvement activities. The position will be hands on and will work on
cross functional teams across multiple plants. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while ensuring accuracy.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Lead safety improvement initiatives and ensure safety compliance on all new equipment.
- Work with Operations, Product and Project Engineers on new product development equipment launch.
- Time studies and standardized process development.
- Product flow optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement activities.
- Data driven process optimizations.
- Optimum work cell layout through application of lean tools.
- Standardized work implementation.
- Manage preventative maintenance programs across the division.
- Interaction with customers and outside vendors.
- Enhancing product quality and building quality into processes/operations.
- Initiate, lead and/or monitor capital projects.
- Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects.
- Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
- Interact daily with the plants to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them with vendors.
- Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status.
- Routinely visit plants to provide support, evaluate plant operations, and provide requested assistance.
- Evaluate equipment and operations for potential safety and health hazards; work with plant and engineering teams to eliminate hazards.
- Provide guidance to manufacturing team on capital projects and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Write technical and business documents,reports, presentations, and correspondence.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an industrial engineer-related field, or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job functions.
- 3-5 years of working in an industrial environment.
- Lean Manufacturing Experience (5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma) and proven track record of successful implementation of lean principles.
- Continuous Improvement Experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent leadership and facilitation skills.
- Ability to interact efficiently with various levels in the organization.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Plan and prioritize personal workload effectively- create personal timing plans and manage internal/external workload accordingly.
- Ability to work well with a diverse team.
- Self-motivated to strive for manufacturing excellence.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Must be adaptable to a fast-paced environment and comfortable with continuous process improvement.
- Travel required and may occasionally need to work outside normal business hours on short notice.
