ABOUT THE ROLE
Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for controls and automation within the facility. Provides controls-related support and guidance to maintenance, production, and engineering personnel to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency.


WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Demonstrate safe electrical work practices.
  • Hands-on PLC/HMI programming, modification, and troubleshooting.
  • Support maintenance efforts to diagnose and repair electrical equipment and control devices (i.e., PLCs, motor controls hardware, I/O, drives, sensors, and OT networks).
  • Lead and/or support internal controls projects from conception to completion, including planning, installation, and commissioning as required.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize safety, quality, efficiency, and reliability of production lines through automation.
  • Maintain backup programs for PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance team to develop and implement a training plan to increase controls knowledge.
  • Identify obsolete controls hardware and ensure appropriate spare parts availability.
  • Work with outside vendors and contractors involved in controls-related projects.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Controls, Automation, Mechatronics, or a
  • related field is preferred; however, formalized training and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs.
  • 5+ years of experience with HMI/SCADA.
  • 5+ years of experience with Motor Controls (motors, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components).
  • Proven experience supporting electrical controls in an industrial environment.
  • Strong electrical, mechanical, analytical, and diagnostic skills, with the ability to identify and resolve problems quickly and safely.
  • Highly proficient with PLC software and hardware, including Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley products (Studio 5000 and similar).
  • Extensive PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience supporting industrial networks, motor control systems, servo drives, variable frequency drives, safety devices, and electrical distribution systems.
  • HMI/SCADA development expertise (FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, Ignition, and similar)
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory and devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and diagrams.
  • Experience integrating and commissioning industrial equipment or controls hardware.
  • Demonstrated Project/Capital Management experience is a plus.
  • Effective communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
