Holcim is a leading international manufacturer and supplier of a comprehensive product portfolio for commercial building performance solutions. 

 

The Winder Packer is responsible for winding of material and setting up area to package finished rolls of tape. This includes but is not limited to assembling boxes, packaging rolls in boxes, palletizing boxes and recording and monitoring weights of boxes for variances. Also responsible for maintaining a clean and professional appearance of finished goods and packaging.

 

Responsibilities:

• Ensures that his/her machinery is operating efficiently

• Winds together rolls of product to specification as it is received from extrusion

• Assembles boxes used for packaging finished goods and ensures that there is study of supply of boxes to meet production needs. Makes sure boxes are clean and undamaged.

• Packages finished rolls into prepared boxes. Uses the correct box for the product and places the correct number of rolls in each box. Keeps up with the pace of production to ensure there isn’t a backlog of rolls.

• Helps control variances by monitoring carton weights and notifying Winding and Packing Lead when they are out of specification.

• Assures that all finished product leaving the department is packaged and labeled correctly and looks neat and professional.

• Palletizes packaged goods in the correct configuration for the type of packaging and does not mix the types of products on a pallet. Fills out pallet sheet properly and initials.

• Make sure cartons are written down on proper sheets and weights are within specification. If cartons are not in specification, notify Winding and Packing Lead to check sizes.

• Fill out carton weight sheets and correct product, size, material and weight specs. Make sure start and stop times are also on sheets

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and/or oral instructions.
• Ability to resolve problems practically, involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to communicate in English: read, write and speak.
• Ability to read and interpret technical directions.
• Ability to use basic hand-held measuring tools.
• Competence in math computation necessary (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure).
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to tolerate considerable exposure to chemicals.
• Ability to interpret SDS's and understand Hazardous Identification System.

 

Qualifications:

• Be able to communicate clearly with all employees in the department

• Must be able to lift between 10-50 pounds approximately 60% of the time

• Must be able to bend/stoop approximately 25% of the time

• Be able to stand approximately 50% of the day

• Be able to sit approximately 50% of the day
