Role overview
The Senior Material Master Data Specialist is a critical compliance and service delivery role within the European Business Services (EBS) Order-to-Cash (O2C) organization. Your core mission is to act as the gatekeeper for all Material Master Data (MD) activities for assigned entities, ensuring the highest level of data quality and compliance with global and local requirements. You will be the primary point of contact for countries, providing expert support, resolving complex queries, driving continuous process improvement, and actively maintaining the control environment to support effective customer interaction.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Act as the Material Master Data Gatekeeper, ensuring all requests contain the appropriate supporting documentation and comply with country and technical requirements before implementation into the system.
- Maintain and enforce data quality and compliance by performing timely updates, ensuring data accuracy, and proactive involvement in monitoring the Data Quality level.
- Lead internal control implementation by understanding related risks, executing internal control activities (ICS/MEC) within deadlines, and maintaining all necessary records and evidence documentation for audits.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for business requests and complex inquiries related to Material MD and other Master Data areas, ensuring effective communication on status and successful resolution of complaints.
- Drive Continuous Improvement by proactively identifying opportunities for system improvements and automation, contributing to operational initiatives, and acting on them to enhance service delivery.
- Maintain Service Documentation by ensuring regular updates and maintenance of all assigned End-to-End (E2E) process flows, procedures (SOPs), and control documentation.
- Provide Master Data Expertise and Support by training Master Data Specialists and colleagues and offering functional support to business units on MD-related issues.
Your qualifications, experience and skills
- Minimum of 3 years of practical Master Data experience with a strong understanding of P2P (Procure-to-Pay) and O2C (Order-to-Cash) related processes and the critical impact of MD on those processes.
- Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or Information Technology (IT).
- Confident user of MS Office, especially Excel. SAP knowledge is advantageous.
- Good attention to detail and competency with numbers. Requires a proactive, outcome-focused attitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- English upper-intermediate (B2) is required (written and spoken). Additional language skills are an advantage.
