Commercial Trainee (Commodity Trading)

SUMMARY OF THE JOB
The Commercial Trainee will gain comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in trading dry commodities related to the building material industry. This role is designed to provide a robust foundation in market analysis, trade operations and execution, profitability and risk management, and customer relationship management. Working closely with experienced professionals and participating in all aspects of the trading process.
MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct relevant research using various sources, from electronic database, websites, and other published sources, using sophisticated search engines, query tools, and other web technologies.
- Analyze market data and information (internal and external, qualitative and quantitative information) to provide market insights and share them with Trading/Shipping teams
- Ensuring smooth and seamless execution of trades administration with Holcim business partners by driving supply chain schedules and daily updates directly with suppliers, customers, ship owners/brokers, port agents and other stakeholders;
- Ensure and track that cargo and shipping commitments are fulfilled and escalate any potential performance issues to the various internal stakeholders (Traders, Shipping, Legal, and Management).
- Handle trade inquiry process and support traders in the execution of trades, including order placement, confirmation, and settlement.
- Formalize requests from the traders for shipments as and when required.
- Maintain accurate records of trades and ensure compliance with internal process requirements.
- Assist in the negotiation of contract terms & conditions with suppliers and customers.
- Assist with the preparation of documentation required for trade execution and compliance.
- Support the trading team with administrative tasks and ad hoc projects as needed.
PROFILE REQUIRED
Education/ Qualification:
- Higher education degree in Business, Engineering or other related areas (no more than 2 years after graduation)
Experience:
- Regular or summer internships, extra-curricular activities
