ABOUT THE ROLE

This temporary full-time position is responsible for various tasks including but not limited to monitoring and protecting workers entering confined space and/or hot work, operating heavy mobile equipment and industrial clean-up and maintenance.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Practice and promote safety in such a way as including but not limited to; assessing risks before starting tasks, only performing authorized activities, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Set up jobs per procedures for work being performed. Knows who to contact in case of emergency and where the nearest eyewash and safety equipment is located.
  • Ensures that proper equipment needed for job is in place (e.g. meters, radios, barricade tape, fire extinguishers, etc.).
  • Maintains visual and/or radio communication with crew. Observes work conditions and maintains awareness of anything that could endanger the workers.
  • Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment including but not limited to confined space monitors.
  • Ability to remain mobile, walk distances on uneven ground and climb stairs.
  • Adheres to all safety protocol to include confined space entry, lock-out-tag-out, working at heights, wearing appropriate safety glasses, gloves and other personal protective equipment, as well as all OSHA, MSHA requirements.
  • Uses mobile equipment, including forklift vehicles and skid steers.
  • Receives, reads, and understands both verbal and written instruction.
  • Performs basic maintenance and sanitation tasks.
  • Ensures that equipment, work areas, and work procedures are in compliance with the regulatory codes and company requirements.
  • Ability to work shifts as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required Education:  High School diploma/GED 

Required Training/Certifications:  Valid Driver’s License, Small Mobile Equipment Experience   


Additional Requirements:

  • Previous masonry experience preferred. Willingness to participate in the training program as outlined in the PST progression guidelines in order to become proficient in the use of plant equipment. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
