Equipment Operator

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for an Equipment Operator to support operations at the the Chase Quarry in Middle River, Baltimore County, MD. This position will be responsible for safe operation of machines, maintenance, and upkeep of equipment safe operation of machines, maintenance, and upkeep of equipment. Also maintain to perform various tasks (e.g. excavating, moving and grading dirt, etc.).
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Operating various heavy machinery which can include bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, graders, loaders, and cranes..
- Responsible for following safety protocols and maintaining awareness of their surroundings.
- Before operating any equipment, an equipment operator conducts pre-operation inspections to ensure that the machinery is in good working order. This includes checking fluid levels, brakes, tires, and other mechanical parts.
- Operators may be responsible for performing basic maintenance on the machinery, such as cleaning, lubricating parts, or changing filters.
- Repairs: Depending on the situation and the operator’s expertise, they may perform minor repairs or work with a mechanic to resolve more complex issues.
- Transporting: Operators often transport construction materials such as sand, gravel, asphalt, or debris from one location to another using dump trucks, loaders, or other heavy equipment.
- Setting Materials: For certain jobs, they may need to carefully place materials in precise locations, such as filling trenches, leveling ground, or stacking materials.
- Operators work closely with foremen, supervisors, and other construction workers to follow specific plans and blueprints to ensure the job is done correctly.
- Operators assist in preparing and maintaining construction sites, which may involve digging trenches, grading land, clearing debris, and preparing foundations for buildings or roads.
- Operators often need to communicate with other workers and supervisors to ensure coordination on the job site, ensuring proper workflow and addressing any changes in tasks or conditions
- Some modern equipment may require the operator to use GPS systems or computerized controls to perform precise operations, such as grading or excavation
- Keep records of hours worked, maintenance performed, and materials used during a project.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Minimum two years of experience
- Knowledge of Machinery: A thorough understanding of the equipment’s functions and operations.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints and use technology to operate machines accurately.
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to follow directions

- Ability to work independently
- High attention to detail
- Required Computer and Software Skills: Basic computer skills
- Ability to work in all weather conditions without limitations.
