ABOUT THE ROLE
We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable individual to join our team as a Diesel Mechanic in Bellingham. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repairs of our commercial diesel fleet for the aggregates and ready-mix divisions. Your exceptional mechanical skills and attention to safety will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our employees and community by making sure our trucks are safe on the roads. This will also ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our construction projects.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Perform routine services and maintenance (lube, oil change, 6/12/36 month services)

Perform vehicle inspections compliant with DOT regulations and complete corresponding paperwork

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with accuracy and in a timely manner

Develop repair plan to ensure a complete, safe and timely repair

Perform mechanical repairs in the shop and roadside, depending on where a breakdown occurs

Navigate electronic Parts System Database to locate and bill parts according to unit in repair

Complete parts order request forms to include judgment calls on tagging out units

Maintain an organized and clean work area

Maintain shop equipment
-
Must always be safety conscious, especially when using powered equipment, maneuvering equipment/vehicles, must warn others before performing repairs that will include loud noise, sparks or fumes. Wear eye and ear protection as required.

Additional duties may be assigned as needed, and flexibility in work hours may be required based on project demands.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee will be required to walk on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, low lighting, artificial lighting, and explosives. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally intense.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Ability to read and create work orders in English

Minimum of 3 years job specific experience

Knowledge of machines/tools used for repair and maintenance of diesel trucks

Trade school training (preferred)
-
CDL (preferred)
-
Welding skills (preferred)
-
Negative pre-employment drug screen (required)

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

Apprentice: $21

Experienced Level 1-3: $25-$39

Additional $5/hr swing shift premium
