JOB DESCRIPTION: Holcim (US) Inc. seeks a Technical Service Engineer based out of Chicago, Illinois; however, this is a work-from-home position whereby the employee may reside anywhere within the Midwestern U.S. region. Note, this position requires up to 40% travel throughout the Midwestern region of the U.S. and Canada. The Technical Service Engineer will assist the assigned sales force in providing technical and marketing services for customers in a highly self-sufficient and autonomous fashion. S/he will actively help develop and promote strategies and products that are aligned with Holcim’s net zero journey. Additionally, s/he will monitor the quality of Holcim products, participate in local and national industry associations, engage specifying agencies, and be a technical resource for company-wide operations. S/he will demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. S/he will support customers in implementation of marketing strategies for cementitious products; work with customers and Holcim personnel in cement and concrete analysis, promotional activities and training; and troubleshoot and handle customer quality-related complaints. S/he will support market managers on technical issues related to marketing multiple product lines; develop a connection base with customers, DOTs, trade associates, architects, engineers and public affairs; drive quality management in the assigned territory including taking a lead role in quality councils, obtaining competitive samples, overseeing field sample retention program, and developing and collecting market performance data; and understand and communicate “local and national” issues with cementitious materials and concrete. S/he will also develop contacts and leadership roles in targeted local and national associations.
REQUIREMENTS: The position of Technical Service Engineer requires a bachelor’s degree, or its foreign equivalent, in construction management, civil engineering/technician, construction science, or a related engineering/technical field plus 3 years of experience in the job offered, as a Project/Field Engineer/Technician, Production Technician/Supervisor, QA/QC Engineer/Technician, in a related engineering/technician position.
Additionally, the position requires the following number of years of experience with each of the following:
- 3 years: Working with admixtures (chemical and mineral) within the cement industry
- 2 years: Conducting sales promotion or training
- 3 years: Concrete, Aggregates, and Cement/Concrete solutions & products
- 3 years: Working with Departments of Transportation (DOTS), engineering firms, and architectural firms
SALARY: $114,670 per year (Standard company benefits apply)
