Asphalt Paving Machine Operator

ABOUT THE ROLE
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for an Asphalt Paver to support the operations in the Asphalt division. This position will be responsible for Monitoring, directing and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure projects progresses are on schedule and within prescribed budget. Coordinates and collaborates with Project Manager, other Superintendent's, other Project Managers, General Contractors and the customer to implement successful project plans. Also scheduling, coordinating and supervising the work of all site operatives, ensuring that all work is delivered safely on time and within budget along with managing equipment and materials required.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Offloading the truck and gathering tools for the day.
- Maintain constant visual contact with Screed operators, dump man and trucks in front of the paver
- Transporting rakes, lutes, shovels, and spray cans to the paver.
- Moving the pavement saw to the transverse joint.
- Sweeping and cleaning the area in front of the paver.
- Must perform general laborer duties as assigned
- Measuring and lining out the area for the day’s paving.
- Working as a Flagger to direct motorists away from the work zone.
- Transporting water to the rollers, power broom, and plate compactor.
- Building a launchpad for the paver at the beginning of the pull.
- Assisting the screed operator.
- Shoveling material out to the end gate.
- Maintaining cleanliness and packing equipment away at the end of the day.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- High school diploma.
- At least 2 years of related work experience
- Someone who can lead by example and ensure that all your team members live by Holcim's core values
- Ability to lead team members in actual construction as required by the project manager
- Excellent communication skills to convey information to others effectively.
- 1 year experience as an asphalt laborer or flagger.
- Knowledge of road and traffic regulations.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work on weekends, public holidays, and at night.
- Ability to travel to wherever the job is needed.
- Ability to work for long hours in all weather conditions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
