ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Business Development Manager will take the lead in driving the development of zero-landfill and comprehensive (full-service) waste management solutions for high-profile commercial and industrial waste generators across the eastern United States. This role focuses on establishing and maintaining strong relationships with both prospective and existing customers to support business growth. The Manager will ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely, and consistent services and solutions that align with customers' needs.In collaboration with customers’ Environmental Managers and Site Managers, the Business Development Manager will assess waste management requirements and design programs to maximize landfill diversion, ensure safe disposal, protect customer brands, and achieve certifiable reductions in Scope 3 emissions. They will work closely with Geocycle’s QH&S team and preprocessing site managers to design and deliver comprehensive solutions efficiently. The role involves managing projects from initiation to completion and leveraging internal resources for larger- scale initiatives. Additionally, the Manager will play an active role in building and maintaining the business pipeline for new projects, ensuring the successful delivery of assigned initiatives.
Please Note:The candidate can work remote but our preference is that they physically are based in one of these state locations to sufficiently be able to service/develope cients. ( NY, PA, NJ, MD, VA, SC, NC, FL,AZ, TX)
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Identify, engage, and secure new business opportunities within the B2B space, focusing on Fortune 500 companies seeking full-service zero-landfill solutions and Scope 3 emissions reductions.
- Develop and foster strategic relationships with partners and potential customers to drive long-term business growth. Explore innovative approaches to expand existing business lines by bridging customer needs with Geocycle’s processes and infrastructure.
- Mobilize and coordinate resources across internal functions and external partners to deliver effective solutions tailored to customer requirements.
- Lead complex sales negotiations and deliver impactful sales presentations, including planning, preparing, and managing proposals, pricing strategies, and client interactions.
- Contribute to the annual business planning process by developing strategies to achieve company goals and profitability targets.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partner companies community leaders, utilities, and engineering firms. Effectively assess customer needs and align them with the company’s offerings and solutions.
- Deliver practical, value-driven solutions that meet customer requirements and ensure successful implementation.
- Facilitate smooth project transitions by collaborating with Operations during the implementation of vetted ideas and solutions.Facilitate the hand-off process on vetted ideas to Operations, working alongside through implementation.
- Reports to the Regional Head and collaborates with the Estimating Manager to review bids. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with QH&S, Administration, and Operations teams to evaluate and align customer needs with the organization’s infrastructure, risk profile, and available resources.
- Team Coordination: Partners with sales, operations, finance, and other internal teams to develop and execute projects and initiatives. Acts as a liaison across all product lines to ensure seamless communication and alignment.

Education: Bachelor's degree
Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Enviromental Sciences, Engineering, Sustainability
Required Work Experience:
8+ years experience of progressive experience in business development in full-service waste management services environment
Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office, Saleforce and SAP applications
Travel Requirements: 50%
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining strong customer relationships, with established local/regional business knowledge and connections.
- Proven track record of success in sales and business development.
- Proactive and results-driven, with the ability to deliver outcomes efficiently and accurately.
- Hands-on approach, capable of managing projects from inception through development and execution.
- A solid technical background in the Waste Management and zero landfill environmental solution services line is highly desirable.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved
- Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
