ABOUT THE ROLE
This position directly reports to the quality control supervisor. All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individual works as a team member. Primary responsibilities include assisting in production functions and maintenance.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
collects and test concrete and aggregate samples using routine methods and basic arithmetic computations
must adhere to all local, state, MSHA and environmental regulations as outlined in the Employee Safe Work Guidelines booklet, and any/all rules or information provided by the Company or customer sites
performs all responsibilities safely
performing routine testing of aggregate samples (quartering samples, running gradations, washes, moistures and picking deleterious
performing basic concrete QC tests slump, air, temperature, sampling, cylinders and unit weight
testing concrete strength specimens
assisting in the preparation and testing of laboratory concrete trial batches
entering data into the aggregate and concrete quality reporting system
calibrating lab equipment
performing routine housekeeping of laboratory
performing all other projects and duties as assigned by the supervisor
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
basic computer skills including basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
basic math skills
basic knowledge of statistics
ability to obtain ACI concrete and aggregate certifications as required
excellent driving record
must have excellent oral and written communication skills
two-year technical degree preferred or five years in QC testing of construction materials in lieu of education

- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
