Automation Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION: Holcim (US) Inc. seeks an Automation Engineer in Ravena, NY to develop and modernize Holcim’s automation and process control systems specific to cement production, which will bolster our sustainability initiatives. Primary job duties include:
- Ensure 24-hour reliability of all process control and environmental systems.
- Conduct system design and administration, risk assessment and management, budget development and management, hardware and software implementation and integration, network analysis and troubleshooting, and create and maintain documentation at a professional level.
- Provide direct supervision to the multi-discipline Ravena Improvement team, and contractors as assigned.
- Maintain and create up to date system functionality documentation providing commissioning support for all new or modified programming.
- Follow up training and coaching for all the team to clearly understand all automation and process control systems applications.
- Provide plant specific Operational Technology (OT) support for all process and provides point of contact for corporate IT with business systems (Server Rooms, Network Infrastructure, IT/OT Convergence, etc.).
- Maintain and optimize all Control Systems (including but not limited to TIS, Shell Scanner, Programmable Logic Controller, View Nodes, SCADAS, CEMS, Engineering Stations, and Variable Frequency Drives).
- Update the Risk Avoidance Plan and escalates reliability concerns in time to prevent a catastrophic system failure resulting in lost revenue.
- Develop full scope including programming, software, hardware, installation, and cost for all systems projects (CAPEX).
- Provide operational support by aiding in troubleshooting system including optimizing control loops, validating alarms, and verifying field signals providing expert advice on all environmental compliance systems.
- Maintain and meet Department Budget providing detailed monthly spend and forecasts.
- Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to PM records, Federal Radio Compliance records, and Environmental Process Systems Records.)
This position requires up to 5% domestic/national travel.
REQUIREMENTS: The position of Automation Engineer requires a bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field plus 5 years of progressively-responsible, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related engineering position within the cement industry. The position also requires the following number of year(s) of professional experience with each of the following:
- 3 years: Using PCS7 Siemens
- 1 year: Conducting Project Management duties
- 1 year: Conducting Automated Project Development activities within the Cement Industry
- 1 year: Conducting Alarm Management activities
SALARY: $140,400 per year
