Objective & Overview

Lafarge, Canada’s leading supplier of construction materials has an opportunity for a Quality Control Technician for our Dundas Quarry.

 

Responsibilities

 

Safety:

  • Implementation of Lafarge Safety Policies, and Compliance with Government Legislation. Safety Induction of Visitors to Quality Lab or site as required.
  • Execution of Job Hazard Analyses for QC Tasks, and implementation of Action Items.
  • Execution and implementation of Lab/QC Safety Improvement Plans.

 

Aggregate Product Performance:

  • Implement programs and processes to ensure compliance of all products with relevant Codes, Standards, and Specifications.
  • Implement Lafarge Quality Program, including sampling, testing, reporting and follow up for all products as determined for each site of responsibility.
  • Record, Monitor and communicate
  • Aggregate KPI performance with key stakeholders as required – investigate variances from Plan and establish corrective actions as required.
  • Participate in or lead the development and implementation of site specific actions to reduce and/or utilize long products, including innovating new combination materials.
  • Provide input to ensure alignment between Sales and Operational staff to ensure product performance meets customer expectations

 

Physical attributes:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb stairs & ladders; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear and smell.
  • Infrequently the employee is required to work in awkward situations; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee must perform work outdoors in all weather conditions, and will work around moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Various PPE will include safety boots, reflective clothing, safety glasses, gloves and hard hat. Additional PPE may be required depending upon tasks.

 

Relationship with Others:

  • Reports to the area Quality Control Supervisor.
  • Works closely with Production Staff, Distribution Staff, and Sales Territory Manager

Dimensions:

  • Starting wage will be commensurate with skills and experience.
  • Candidates must Possess Full G-class Driver’s License. Availability for shift work is a must.
  • Shifts can extend to 12 hours and are rotating.

 

Qualification Profile

  • Minimum 2-year College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Environmental Technology University Degree in Engineering.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction materials (aggregates, asphalt and concrete) industry; should have excellent communication and computer skills, and must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
