ABOUT THE ROLE 
The Coring Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the Coring Machine at the Lafarge Edmonton Pipe Plant. They work in a team and coordinate efforts to ensure products are cored in a timely fashion. They participate in housekeeping and other various tasks throughout the plant. A high level of safety practices must be used at all times.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Complete Field Level Risk Assessments before beginning each job 
  • Keep equipment maintained and clean
  • Follow all confined space and safe work procedures
  • Prioritize work assignments based on the delivery dates, read and execute work based on the shop drawings 
  • Complete monthly inventory counts and keep track of stock
  • Contribute to maintaining high-quality concrete pipe production standards, essential for internal projects and operations.
  • Transport raw materials, finished products, and equipment throughout plant manually or using powered equipment
  • Assist machine operators, assemblers and other workers
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma
Additional Education Preferred: Concrete Finisher 
Required Work Experience: 3-5 years of experience preferred
Required Training/Certifications: Forklift and Crane experience preferred, valid Driver's Lience 
Required Technical Skills: Prior concrete/concrete coring, working in a pipe plant, operated forklift and crane would be an asset
Additional Requirements:

  • Safety Oriented
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Willingness to learn new skills 
  • Use of hand tools such as slide-hammers, sledge hammers, concrete drill
  • Willing to work early morning shifts, and overtime when needed including Saturdays
  • Able to work in a fast paced, high production environment
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Able to work well with others
  • Good communication skills
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests


This is a unionized position that is subject to negotiated rates. Rate of pay is determined by experience and skill level. The rate can also include shift differential depending on the time and day of the shift.
