ABOUT THE ROLE
The Ready Mix Equipment Operator – Wheel Loader is responsible for the day-to-day production of Ready Mix Concrete being loaded for job sites, including homeownership and other industry clients. This role ensures the smooth operation of the plant, property upkeep, and high-level product quality. Operators will work closely with Sales, Logistics, and Operations teams, as well as external truck partners, to maintain efficiency and customer satisfaction.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Adhere to all Lafarge safety policies and procedures, supporting a safe work environment.

  • Perform general plant operations and clean-ups, including loading material, clean-up, and moving deliveries.

  • Operate motorized equipment such as power tools, loaders, and telehandlers.

  • Assist general laborers in adding value-added products to mixers, ensuring accurate measurements, proper handling, and efficient integration for optimal mix quality.

  • Conduct general maintenance, including greasing, inspecting equipment, and assisting with plant requirements.

  • Work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to cold, heat, noise, and dust.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders from Sales, Logistics, and Operations teams, as well as external truck partners.

  • Have a flexible schedule, with potential shift variations including weekends.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas, promoting a culture of safety and exhibiting these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Grade 12 or equivalent.
Required Work Experience: Experience in a related field preferred.
Required Training/Certifications: Valid driver’s license (Minimum Class 5). 
Required Technical Skills: Computer literacy, including the use of mobile/tablet products, is an asset. Understanding of the building materials industry, including product knowledge, is an asset.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in a high-production environment.

  • Willingness to work overtime, different shifts, and weekends as needed.

  • Ability to work unsupervised and collaborate effectively with others.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved Personal Protective Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
