ABOUT THE ROLE
Lafarge Construction is looking for a Seasonal Grademan to join our team in Edmonton, AB. This role involves performing various manual labor duties on construction sites, including checking grades, minor truck and equipment maintenance, and completing pre and post-trip inspections. The Grademan will assist with cleaning up job sites and performing other tasks as needed, all while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Perform pre and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.

  • Conduct minor truck and equipment maintenance to ensure smooth operations.

  • Check grades on construction sites to ensure they meet required specifications.

  • Clean up sites, including shoveling, raking, and sweeping.

  • Assist with other labor duties as required to support the team.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.

  • Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Work Experience: Experience in checking grades and hauling trailers is an asset.
Required Training/Certifications: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Required Technical Skills: Knowledge of construction practices is an asset.
Travel Requirements: Local travel to construction sites around Edmonton, AB.
Additional Requirements:

  • Able to perform physically demanding tasks, including crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling.

  • Able to work unsupervised and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved

  • PPE, including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

  • Experience in checking grades and hauling trailers.

  • Knowledge of construction practices.
