The Boat Crew Operator plays a critical role in the transportation of site personnel to and from the mine site on a regular daily schedule with possibility of other transport as required. They are responsible for operating and maintaining boats to ensure transportation is completed in a safe manner following company policies and procedures. In addition to operating the vessel, they also serve as assisting with loading and unloading cargo, securing materials, and general cleaning duties when not operating the crew boat. 

 

Based on a two week rotating shift from 5:30AM-2:00PM and 2:30PM-11:30PM

 

Wage: $28.00/hr

 

Responsibilities:

 

Crew Boat Operations:

  • Navigation and Operation: Safely navigate and operate the crew boat, adhering to all maritime regulations and company policies.
  • Safety Management: Conduct safety drills and checks, ensure all safety equipment is maintained and accessible, and provide safety briefings to passengers and crew.
  • Maintenance: Oversee routine maintenance of the vessel, including engine checks, fuel levels, and general upkeep to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
  • Emergency Response: Act as the primary responder to on-board emergencies, including medical, mechanical, and environmental incidents. Ensure all crew members are trained in emergency procedures.
  • Log Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of all voyages, detailing passengers, cargo, routes, weather conditions, and any incidents.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication with port authorities, company dispatch, and other vessels to ensure coordinated operations and adherence to schedules.
  • Loading and Unloading: Supervise the safe and efficient loading and unloading of passengers and cargo, ensuring proper securing and balance of loads.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal maritime regulations, including environmental laws and company-specific policies.

 

Mine Site Duties:

  • General Cleaning: Perform regular cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming in offices, restrooms, common areas, and other facilities at the mine site..
  • Supply Management: Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and equipment. Maintain an organized storage area for custodial materials.
  • Equipment Care: Properly use and maintain equipments. Report any equipment malfunctions or needs for repair.


Qualifications


Education

  • Commercial Boat Operators License and Level 1 FA required

 

Experience & Skill Set

  • Safety Oriented
  • Able to lift up to 55 lbs
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to work overtime and shifts when needed 
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Good communication skills
  • Mechanically Inclined
