Objective & Overview
The Holiday Relief (plant operator/ heavy equipment operator) at the LafargeHolcim – Manitoulin Aggregate site safely performs a combination of tasks ranging from housekeeping activities, preventative maintenance, operation of fixed and mobile equipment used in the production and shipping of aggregates, as well as routine maintenance and repairs as directed. 

 

The hourly rate starts at $27.92/hr and increases to $28.92/hr after the probationary period.


Responsibilities

  • Health and Safety: Comply with all MoL OH&S Acts and Regulations.  Wear all Personal Protective equipment as prescribed.  Strict compliance with Lafarge Canada safety rules, policies and procedures. Report all incidents, near misses and safety hazards to supervisor.  Follow Lockout/Tag out procedures. Emergency response plan awareness.  
  • Maintenance and Operations: Work in a team environment with other co-workers, supervisors and managers. Operate various pieces of fixed and mobile equipment to meet production and shipping requirements requirements. Complete cleanup assignments using a skid steer and/or hand-held tools; working safely around moving and/or rotating equipment while using the required personal protective safety equipment. Perform pre-operational checks and operate assigned mobile equipment as trained and directed. Complete scheduled maintenance inspections and lubrication of plant equipment using the appropriate job plans, procedures and manuals. Repair broken or malfunctioning equipment. Keep Supervisor informed of any problems affecting assigned work. Be aware of environmentally sensitive areas and be alert to correct environmental problems that may develop in the assigned work area.  Specific job duties will often vary from day to day, depending on business needs.


Qualifications:

  • Experience in construction, mining or operating heavy machinery is preferred but not required.
  • Basic welding and fitting is preferred but not required.
  • Ontario high school diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license
  • Be willing to work nights, overtime and weekends when required.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Dependability – follow instructions and respond to supervisor direction.

  • Working outdoors and varied temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Nights, overtime and weekends when required.
  • Comfortable with Working at heights and Confined Spaces
  • Candidates will be required to participate in an assessment that will evaluate your ability to perform the essential functions of your position
