Overview:

The Benefits Analyst will lead the Lafarge wellness program while supporting employee benefits and organizational health initiatives for Lafarge Canada.  The incumbent will continually evolve the integrated strategy to support a diverse and multigenerational workforce of employees.  


Responsibilities:

 

Safety:
•    Enhances the safety culture of Lafarge by adhering to safety policies, taking ownership for ensuring a safe workplace and demonstrating support to organizational safety initiatives 
Key Responsibilities:
•    Proactively identifies gaps in processes and makes recommendations for improvements to enable efficient benefits delivery, including the ROI of proposed changes
•    Leads revisions of programs to ensure continued support and fulfilment of employee needs by taking an innovative and forward-looking approach that is financially sound
•    Has a strong understanding of different benefit plan options and technology enablers and make recommendations on digital delivery options and services
•    Serves as the escalation point for matters related to health and benefits by acting as the tier 2 point of contact for benefit issues within the company, collaborating with HR and the business to ensure resolution of issues
•    Ensures retiree taxable benefits (Quebec medical + life insurance) are accurately calculated and reported on tax receipts. 
•    Manages submitted document change forms (DCFs) by working with HR/LR on the amendments and coordinating implementation of benefit plan changes with external vendors, including reviewing contracts and booklets for changes.
•    Provides support for benefit program implementations and rollouts.
•    Assists with the preparation and delivery of employee education sessions.
•    Coordinates, drafts and reviews program related communication materials
•    Maintains PenBen file and acts as the super-user.
•    Assists with preparation and tracking of severance letters
•    Supports the annual post-retirement valuation, data collections, and submission of data to vendors.
•    Coordinates the annual taxable benefit reporting process for actives, retirees & Quebec actives/retirees.
•    Manages the annual benefit enrolment exercise.
•    Manages annual audits by responding to auditor’s inquiries
•    Documents/maintains administrative procedures and policies related to benefit & wellness programs.
•    Maintains current knowledge of related government rules and regulations for benefits and other applicable labour and/or tax laws and regulations.
•    Assists with and participates in special projects, strategic initiatives (negotiations, plan mergers) as well as M&A/divestiture activities. 
•    Champions a culture where individuals are given the opportunity to practice wellness and feel empowered to take ownership of their health
•    Researches, analyzes and interprets existing / proposed statutory requirements governing benefits and wellness plans and recommend appropriate course of action
•    Provides training and delegates level appropriate tasks to Admin Support.
•    Supports the work of the broader Total Rewards team as required

Vendor Management:
●    Coordinates with home/auto discount vendors on mailings every two to three years.
●    Works with consultants and vendors on business travel/AD&D renewals.
●    Works with vendors on fitness membership & executive medical renewals.
●    Supervises management of external vendors (e.g. insurers, administrators, consultants)
●    Coordinates the implementation of benefit plan changes with external vendors, including reviewing contracts and booklets for changes
●    Fulfills compliance requirements for regulatory and internal reporting requirements and manage the process within Lafarge and between external vendors
●    Manages the annual service award programs with external vendor(s).

Qualifications:


Education:
●    Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resource Administration or other related field combined with specialized training in benefits administration or compensation (i.e. CHRL, CEBS, CCP)
 Experience and Skill Set:
●    Strong preference for bilingualism in French and English
●    3-5 years of progressive corporate benefits experience with an emphasis on managing and executing multiple initiatives and process enhancements;
●    Passionate about elevating the employee experience, corporate health and wellness, approaching the challenge from a user-centric design perspective, and bringing fresh ideas and creative thinking to the table;
●    Strong benefits industry and market knowledge of competitive landscape;
●    Deep understanding of benefits plan administration, cost modelling and impact assessment of plan changes;
●    A team player with a natural propensity to build and leverage strong internal networks to get the job done;
●    A strong communicator, compelling storyteller and influencer with the ability to gain support and sponsorship from a variety of stakeholders to participate in and champion a true wellness experience;
●    Ability to use data to make informed recommendations, ask thought provoking questions, and bring fresh thinking to the table;
●    Willingness to roll up your sleeves, be a bold agent for change, and walk the talk when it comes to supporting employee wellness.
●    Superior analytical, research and problem solving skills
●    Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint
●    Knowledge of provincial and federal laws pertinent to benefit administration.
