Objective & Overview

The Industrial IT Sr. Automation Engineer role is to contribute her/his skills to the development of company Industrial Solutions. In this role, she/he will be responsible for creating desktop systems  and tools that support company strategy & roadmap..
She/he will report directly to the Head of IT Industrial (Cross-function) supporting the overall Industrial Business objectives of actively transforming the company. 


The ideal candidate is a proactive, communicative collaborator, equipped with the technical skills to execute a product's lifecycle and deliver high quality code.


Priority is to ensure effectiveness of the solutions in scope, and have an efficient work model with offshore teams and the rest of the  IT to execute development and recurrent cutover operational tasks for customised solutions.  

 

Responsibilities
Design / build / deploy process of the Industrial applications in scope:

  • Design, develop, deploy, maintain PLC systems to ensure the efficiency and reliability of automated processes. 
  • She/he will  work closely with a dynamic team to provide innovative automation solutions and support seamless business operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLC hardware and software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize system performance.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation of PLC systems.
  • Conduct system testing and validation to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Provide technical support and training to team members.
  • Participate in code reviews and help maintain high standards of code quality
  • Deliver limited-defect products through ubiquitous test automation
  • Collaborate with other IT members and leaders within the Architecture/Engineering teams to refine best practices and processes to execute
  • Preparation of requirements analysis with focus on technical specifications, risk analysis, cost analysis, project plan, user acceptance tests performance & coordination - from small to complex solutions.
  • Participate to Industrial solutions 2nd/3rd level support

Profile required 


Education/qualifications normally required: 

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Automation or  Robotics Engineering, Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent IT focused work experience and technical training/certification 
  • Proven experience in PLC programming and automation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation and control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Master degree is a plus or equivalent experience (> 6 years)

 

Specific work experience: 

  • Knowledge of the Construction & Building Materials industry with a focus on plant manufacturing  systems (historians, quality, production, process, maintenance, plant systems integrations..) is an asset
  • Work Experience in Agile development and continuous delivery
  • Solid experience in the development, maintenance and rollout of Digital Industrial Solutions such in domains such as:
    • Quarry mining management
    • Plant quality, maintenance, process, production, inventory solutions

 

Technical / functional skills: 
Deep technical knowledge and understanding of the following solutions: 

  • Industrial solutions technology stack:
    • C#, C++, FORTRAN, MS VisualBasic .NET, MSAccess, Qt development framework, Microsoft Visual Studio (v6, v2008, v2010), ActivePerl Boost
    • 3D visualisation libraries: Coin3d/SoQt, Coin3d/quarter, HOOPS
    • OPC, PLC communication
    • Linear programming and Optimisation
    • PLC Programming
    • HMI (Human-Machine Interface)
    • SCADA Systems
    • Electrical Circuit Design

 

  • Source Control and Automated testing
  • IT/OT knowledge
  • Troubleshooting
  • Project Management
  • Technical Documentation
