Overview

Licensed 310T Truck and Coach Technician for our Ready Mix Operations in Northern Ontario.  Location preference to Sault Ste Marie or North Bay with travel requirements to our other operations in Kenora, Red Lake, Marathon, M’Chigeeng.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, diagnostic tests, troubleshooting and general vehicle repair. 
  • Perform preventative maintenance services and maintenance related work as required.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment. 
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns. 
  • Manage work orders and assist in cost tracking, invoice reconciliation and third party repair pricing. 
  • Manage and report on fleet health, truck downtime and upcoming repairs. 
  • Maintain a functional shop, equipped with the necessary stock parts to keep trucks mobile. 
  • Discuss budget and needs with managers. 
  • Work in compliance with Company Health and Safety policies and OHSA standard. 
  • Keep neat and organized records of services and work in process

 

Relationship with Others

  • Operational Management (e.g Plant Managers, Operations Specialist)

 

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate with area plants superintendents and dispatches for scheduling of routine
  • maintenance and repair, and annual inspections.
  • You will be required to perform work on the trucks yourself along with the assistance of scheduling outside vendors.

 

Dimensions:

  • Reports directly to Operations Manager

 

Qualifications

  • Have a safety mindset and willing to comply to the standards and procedures of Lafarge Safety Policies. 
  • Must have a valid Truck and Coach (310T) License. 
  • A valid DZ Drivers License with a clean abstract is an asset. 
  • Must possess own Hand Tools and Tool Box. 
  • Ready mix experience with London and McNelius mixers an asset. 
  • Welding and Hydraulic systems experience and asset. 
  • Experience with Theam/Ready mix concrete conveyors an asset. 
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills. 
  • Fleet experience preferred. 
  • Computer knowledge utilizing email and Microsoft Excel is considered an asset.

 

Physical Demands of the Role:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel.  
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb stairs & ladders; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear and smell.  Infrequently the employee is required to work in awkward situations; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  
  • Employee must perform work outdoors in all weather conditions, and will work around moving mechanical parts and equipment.  Various PPE will include safety boots, reflective clothing, safety glasses, gloves and hard hat.  Additional PPE may be required depending upon tasks.
