ABOUT THE ROLE

Lafarge Construction is seeking a seasonal, full-time Labourer to join our team in Saskatoon SK. This role plays a crucial part in supporting construction operations by performing a variety of manual labor tasks to ensure job site efficiency and safety. The successful candidate will assist with general site maintenance, material handling, and equipment operation.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Perform minor truck and equipment maintenance.

  • Check grades to ensure accuracy.

  • Conduct pre and post-trip inspections.

  • Maintain clean job sites by performing shoveling, raking, sweeping, and other general labor duties.

  • General laborer duties associated with all aspects of road construction including base, paving and concrete applications.

  • Operate equipment as needed.

  • Spotting and flagging.

  • Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.

  • Operate equipment as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Work Experience: Experience in checking grades
Required Training/Certifications: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. G Endorsement is an asset.
Required Technical Skills: Knowledge of construction and Experience hauling trailers is an asset
Travel Requirements: Knowledge of the City of Saskatoon and surrounding area

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling.

  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical assessment.

  • Proven ability to follow safe work procedures and complete field risk assessments.

  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
