Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator 1

Objective
The prime objective of the Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent is to lead the maintenance execution team in order to assure that all plant equipment is maintained in the most reliable and cost effective manner possible and coordinating the mechanical maintenance department activities with all other departments.
Key Responsibilities
Safety:
- Follows and ensures full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures. E
- nsures all contracts and project site meet the Lafarge safety policy requirements for our employee’s safety.
Maintenance execution:
- Coordinate, ensure the execution of and support of all daily, weekly and monthly maintenance activities along with the execution of the maintenance activities required during planned shutdowns.
Maintenance Coordination
- Reviews the mechanical maintenance requirements with production on a daily basis and adjusts accordingly.
Maintenance performance:
- Provide maintenance performance analysis and orientation for improvement.
- Manage and improve the execution scheduling compliance.
Budgeting
- Assist in the development and execution of the annual mechanical budget along with establishing departmental objectives
Relationships with Others:
- The Maintenance Superintendent reports to the Maintenance Manager.
- The Maintenance Superintendent is called upon to collaborate closely with the members of the production team, the Plant Finance Manager, the Environment Coordinator and the Special Projects Manager
Accountabilities:
- Provide a safe working environment for all employees.
- Provide weekly reporting of mechanical maintenance costs regarding overtime, contractor and parts to the Maintenance Manager.
- Continuously track and report on mechanical maintenance expenditures during major overhauls and recommend corrective actions to maintain the department budget.
- Ensure that maintenance activities comply with all legislated regulations and corporate policies.
- Promote good relations and communication between the maintenance and production departments.
- Ensure constant communication and feedback between the maintenance planning and execution teams about planning accuracy.
- Provide feedback on the status of the execution of the maintenance schedule versus what is planned.
- Administer the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement in a fair, firm, and consistent manner. Provide grievance counseling as required.
- Ensure productivity, housekeeping and quality of work standards are maintained within the mechanical maintenance department.
- Consider new techniques and/or technologies to optimize maintenance cost and to improve the technical condition and functioning of the installed equipment.
- Achieve reliability targets on all major pieces of equipment.

Indirect Reports: 18 (maintenance mechanics)

Qualification Profile
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
- Extensive experience in heavy equipment repair, equipment maintenance repair execution and maintenance team coordination.
- Experience with Computerized Mechanical Maintenance System.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong leadership and capable of challenging others
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of SAP.
- Strong communicator (both oral & written), bilingual.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact with plant personnel.
- Highly motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated commitment to achieving organizational and personal goals.
- Proven ability to work well in a team environment (co-workers, suppliers, etc.)
