Overview:

The Operations Coordinator New Graduate will provide assistance to the Plant Manager through field work, learning, development and growth. The operations coordinator will participate in safety, coordination and planning of the ongoing activities at various GVA plant operations to achieve business targets. Recent graduates from post-secondary institutions will be considered. 

 

Location: GVA 

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Culture: Participate in helping drive the site towards a zero injury work environment. Liaison with employees to complete risk assessments, workplace inspections, and assist in the use of workplace procedures and practices.

  2. Quality Control: Participate in the quality control process and ensure the production of in spec material is achieved on a daily basis

  3. Production Management: Assist the site manager in rolling out production plans, metrics and goals for production. 

  4. Community Relations: Assist the plant manager in ensuring that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines. Support effective relationships within the community by participating in local activities/events

  5. Learning & Development: participate in designated learning and development streams to enhance business knowledge

  6. Maintenance Management – Participate in the maintenance management module through data inputs and reporting

  7. Administrative - Perform administrative duty as per business needs. 
     

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Safety: Near Miss reporting, Safety inspections/reports, WAH/Confined Space permits,

  • Risk assessments, JHSC meeting, VFL’s, Traffic management, Policies and procedures

  • Land: Dust and Noise control

  • Labor: Shift scheduling, production reporting

  • Production: Daily/weekly production entry, preparation of production reporting

  • Production planning, Inventory Reconciliation, Downtime reports, Mobile Equipment Maintenance Preventative Maintenance

  • Customer Focus: Shipping staff/process management, Product quality assurance

  • Create & maintain land tracking database to facilitate flow of information between land & operational groups

  • Perform inspections of land assets as required

Salary Range: $70,000.00 to $75,000.00 per annum

 

Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate from a university/college with civil engineering/business degree/diploma

  • Interest in a long-term career in business, engineering, and construction with a goal to pursue

  • One to three years of industry experience.

  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO).

  • Experience with aggregate equipment and processes.

  • Ability to travel within the GVA region will be required (10-20%)

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Works well in a team environment.

  • Strong people, analytical, problem solving and project management skills.

  • Able to handle difficult issues in a positive way.

  • Organized self-starter.
