Overview

The Drafting Technician - CAD is responsible for the articulation of information from contract drawings, addendum, specifications, written documents and oral instruction in providing accurate precast production and construction shop drawings.

 

Structure: 

Reporting to the Drafting Manager, the incumbent will prepare accurate construction and production drawings utilizing CAD drafting techniques showing all details required for the complete fabrication and installation of precast concrete components.  Planning and organization is an important dimension of this position where both internal and external customer schedules requirements must be met. Project collaboration will include working alongside Sales, Project Management and Operation teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Performing all drafting functions, including precast construction (erection) and production drawings in a fast paced work environment.

  • Preparing hardware details and material list and others as may be required

  • Laying out of drawings consistent with company standard details and practices

  • Project document and information retrieval to ensure drawing accuracy and completion.

  • Ensuring project documents are archived according to the Lafarge policy.

  • Planning and organize work priorities to meet customer schedules and demand

  • Ability to interpret specifications related to construction industry

  • Assist in other endeavors, as required

  • Support the continual improvement of the company safety culture.

 

Specific accountabilities:

  • Must be a team player with excellent organizational skills.

  • Self-motivated and driven.

  • Ability to maintain good customer relations (prompt to response time).

  • Safety Oriented.

 

Qualifications:

  • Two or three years Technician or Technology training from technical college

  • Proficient in drafting construction drawings and shop drawings with Auto Cad 

  • Computer skills training programs or equivalent work experience including software applications such as Microsoft Excel, communications and knowledge of network operations

  • Minimum three years experience in construction industry

  • Experience in Precast Concrete Industry is an asset.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Excellent  interpersonal skills

  • Good work ethics and possess can do attitude

  • 3D modeling skill with Revit is an asset

  • Capable to read and understand specifications, architectural and structural drawings
