Journeyperson Truck Transport Mechanic

Overview:
This position perform a variety of mechanical duties to truck and trailer units including diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair, as well as regularly scheduled preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities:

Perform maintenance and repairs on Concrete Mixers
-
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.

Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and address potential problems before they escalate.

Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other components of heavy equipment.
-
Replace faulty or worn-out parts and components using appropriate tools and techniques.

Follow manufacturer specifications, repair manuals, and technical guidelines during repairs and maintenance activities.

Complete work orders and maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and labor hours.

Collaborate with supervisors and equipment operators to identify equipment issues and provide guidance on preventive maintenance practices.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols during all maintenance and repair activities.

Stay updated on the latest advancements in Commercial Transport technology and repair techniques.
*Any other departmental related duties as directed by management.
Qualification Profile:
-
Truck Transport technician course
-
Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement
-
Have a safety mindset and willing to comply to the standards and procedures of Lafarge Safety Policies
-
Must possess own Hand Tools and Tool Box.

Ready mix experience with London and Precision mixers an asset
-
Knowledge of Cummins and Paccar engines
-
Knowledge and ability to inspect, test, diagnose, assess, troubleshoot, repair and replace electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems

In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other heavy equipment components.

Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues.

Must be able to perform annual safety inspections (MPI)

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
-
Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
-
Physical stamina to perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting and working in various weather conditions.
-
High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
-
Experience in construction industry is an asset

Welding and Hydraulic systems experience an asset

Fleet Experience Preferred

Computer knowledge utilizing email and Microsoft Excel is considered an asset
-
Must be organized and willing to exhibit good housekeeping practices in the Lafarge shop
