HERACLES Group, Greece's leading company in innovative and sustainable building solutions and a member of HOLCIM, is seeking to recruit a Mechanical Project Manager. With sustainability at the core of our strategy, the "OLYMPUS" is a pioneering project aiming to fulfill our zero carbon commitment. Our goal is the green transformation of our Group's cement production plant in Milaki, Evia, into a net zero carbon facility, utilizing innovative carbon capture technologies.
Based in our Athens Head Offices, you will join our Project Team for this large-scale CO2 emissions avoidance "OLYMPUS" Carbon Capture project that will spearhead the decarbonization of energy intensive industries. OLYMPUS is a flagship project in Holcim’s European decarbonization roadmap. It will lead to the development of storage capacity in southern Europe. With a target operational date of 2028, the project aims to capture and store 1 million tons of CO₂ annually. In 2023, the project was selected for a grant from the EU Innovation Fund.

 

The Role

 

Mechanical Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of projects related with the OLYMPUS project (Carbon Capture, Storage, Jetty, Raw Mill decoupling, Alternative Fuels, Road Network and related facilities) in cooperation with Technical Project Mgr and  Project Management Team. This role involves overseeing the mechanical design, construction, and commissioning phases, ensuring technical excellence, budget control, and compliance with H&S and environmental regulations. 


●    Manage the end-to-end execution of the projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
●    Prepare the Technical definition / specification of the Project, develop specific studies, manage interfaces, battery limit between subcontractors/vendors, manage technical coordination of subcontractors / vendors, resolve technical coordination issues between parties involved in the Project (Designers, Suppliers and Subcontractors). Ensure follow-up of technical executions of the engineering services contracts.
●    Prepare the technical sections of Subcontracts for Engineering service, procurement and/or construction works and lead technical clarification of the calls for tenders. Participate in Vendors (equipment/material) and/or Subcontractors (construction works) selection, technical bid analysis, negotiations & technical clarifications with suppliers & control and coordinate technically vendors & suppliers.
●    Ensure technical follow-up of the construction works including modifications and /or non-conformity resolution, providing the needed technical documentation for the construction to the site management team. Participate in the preparation of construction schedules and the commissioning schedules, of acceptance procedures for facilities and coordinate the corresponding actions and follow up the deviations that could lead to delays / cost. Coordinate the actions of the technical team (incl Vendor / Engineering Subcontractor) to meet the jobsite needs and establish the project implementation calendar.


Key Success Factors & Prerequisites:

 

●    Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
●    Collaborate with design companies, contractors engineers & project management team to establish project specifications and timelines.
●    Monitor project progress and performance, acting proactively to keep projects on track.
●    Ensure all work is performed in compliance with relevant safety standards and building codes.
●    Conduct site visits to oversee construction activities and address any issues promptly.
●    Prepare regular progress reports for stakeholders and senior management.

What are we looking for

 

●    Mechanical Engineering University degree
●    10+ years of experience in design & planning of technical projects in Industry (preferred in Heavy Industry),
●    Strong technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles
●    Ideally experience in cement plant operations (Maintenance, Production) and knowledge of cement equipment technology
●    PMP certification will be considered a strong asset
●    Experience in Project Planning tools (MS Project, SmartSheet or similar),
●    Experience in design of mechanical equipment and CAD tools (AutoCAD),
●    Full professional English and advanced computer skills in MS Office and Google suite and tools
●    Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with capacity to influence.

●    Availability for traveling and to relocate in Milaki area during construction phase
