About the Job 

The job objective of the Shift Coordinator is to produce the budgeted volume of clinker during the shift with specific emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, effectiveness and cost per ton aimed at achieving the Plant’s annual objective.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Monitors the operations and optimizes all aspects of production line from quarry to packing plant
  • Take a lead in the enforcement of Lafarge safety rules and guidelines through Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) while ensuring adherence by his team.
  • Coordinate the Plant emergency and responsible for ensuring the efficient implementation of the Emergency Response Plan (ERP), evacuation plan and emergency procedure.
  • Coordinates the activities of all services departments directed at keeping the production plants in good operating condition.
  • Receive the equipment’s after maintenance / repairs from execution team and ensure that all post maintenance activities including cleaning by maintenance crew are done.
  • Manages the day-to-day running of the plant, on shift basis, respecting the KPIs through setting of priorities and direction to plant shift team.
  • Coordinates activities of maintenance team on night shift and call for help when needed (call out procedure).
  • Controlling of the results and initiation of corrective actions where required.
  • Participates in the planning and organization of short and long term plant stoppages.
  • Controls the re-bricking of the kiln and other works during major shutdowns.
  • Monitors the performance of contractors on the plant.
  • Controls production activities to comply with group environmental standards and maintain good housekeeping.
  • Monitor continuously, all plant process lines using all available tools to ensure employee safety, stable equipment operation, equipment integrity within prescribe design limitations, operating targets, and environmental regulations
  • Coordinate plant resources to troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain plant equipment as required, to meet production demands and prevent failures.
  • Co-ordination of plant turn around maintenance. Root Cause Analysis, Reliability and other company best practices / initiatives. Test drilling, wrecking, Clearing and laying of bricks and casting works.
  • Guide and train the subordinates or detect training needs.
  • Appraise the subordinates once a year and recommends promotion, transfers and disciplinary actions.
  • Controls the efficiency and effectiveness of the Shift team
  • Review shift records on the status of operating equipment, breakdown, stoppages, repair works other information related to the shift activities.
  • On routine basis checks the Plant output and quality of all processed materials and takes corrective action as required.
  • Prepare and signs authority to withdraw material slips, overtime, work orders, permit slips and other forms required by the job activities.
  • Controls the proper utilization of equipment/tools and materials and if unused, materials are returned in good condition for safekeeping.
  • Records abnormal or unusual operation and correct the situation or reports to Production Coordinator.
  • Request, through Work Request form, malfunctions, defects or breakdowns to Superior and/or maintenance shift team.
  • If any emergency during shift, stop the activities and request maintenance shift team to solve the emergency
  • Complies with Environmental & Quality system programs.
  • Upholds and maintains EMS and NIS ISO 9001:2000
  • Controls the recording of daily production report and daily log sheet.
  • Comply with EMS Production Instrumentation activities
  • Ensure involvement in the implementation and maintenance if integrated management system in the plant.
  • Any other job that may be assigned from time to time

Interfaces with the following:

  • Mechanical, Methods, Production, and Stores departments.
  • Method: to request work and repairs to be done.
  • The Maintenance execution (Mechanical and Automation/Instrumentation): for equipment’s repairs and reception
  • Quarry: to receive limestone and shale.
  • Safety Officer: To liaise for accident prevention and inform about any problem that may occur on Clinker plant.
  • Security: to inform and solve security problems

 

What we are looking for 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in any engineering discipline (Electrical Engineering or Electronic, Mechanical as main subjects
  • 3-5 years experience as Shift Manager or Coordinator in a cement plant
  • Good knowledge of cement manufacturing process.
  • Good knowledge of product quality parameters and quality control tests.
  • Good knowledge of computer aided systems for kiln and mill operation.
  • Able to take initiative based on sound problem solving skills
