About the role

The role holder is responsible for mechanical maintenance and repairs through fabrication and welding of plant equipment according to maintenance schedules to facilitate smooth operations and ensuring prompt completion and quality of the execution of welding jobs.

What you'll be doing 

  • Responsible for the maintenance and well being of all burning/welding equipments.
  • Ensure quality welding repairs on plant equipment as per maintenance scheduling and using job plans.
  • Monitor the time requirements for each welding job and the optimal manpower and skills necessary for executing jobs.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping is done at all times in the welding workshop.
  • Ensure that proper welding safety measures are being adhered to at all times by all welding shop personnel.
  • Responsible for scheduling inspection/audit of welding tools and machines (including safety welding accessories) and ensuring that they are in optimal condition of safe use.
  • Responsible for recording daily welding job activities.
  • Ensure proper management of welders working under him.
  • Monitor job duration, cost and performance of welders.
  • Recommend improvements for cost reductions.
  • Respond promptly to emergency welding repair needs.
  • Work with the planning in the development of job planning.
  • Ensure required item such as chutes, cones, etc are made from sketches and drawings provided by superiors from the draughtsman.
  • Specify work procedures, if required.
  • Monitor and control overtime of subordinate.
  • Ensure safe storage and proper disposal of replaced spares.
  • Comply with EMS Mechanical Instrumentation job functions.
  • Ensure involvement in the implementation and maintenance of integrated management system in the plant

What we are looking for

  • Other Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
  • Technical College Diploma, City & Guild
  • 5 years’ hands-on experience in a process industry
  • Hands-on experience on the welding shop equipment
  • Knowledge of work and safety rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of relevant welding shop equipment
  • Knowledge of engineering drawing
  • Knowledge of relevant software
