About the job
The Security Manager, Sagamu is responsile for providing strategic leadership and driving robust security operations in the Sagamu Plant. The role requires a self-sufficient professional capable of managing complex situations, including crisis response and high-impact decision-making. The Security Manager will support the implementation of security strategies and policies, deliver routine tactical support, and contribute to the wider Security & Resilience Department in safeguarding our people and assets. As a key member of the Sagamu Plant Leadership Team, the role also oversees Transport Services for all staff and light vehicles in the region. Success in this position demands strong vigilance, disciplined planning, clear reporting, and the highest level of integrity.
What you'll be doing
General:
- Support the deployment of Security & Business Resilience Programs (policy,directives & tools).
- Support the promotion of Security & Business Resilience culture by identifyingtraining & awareness needs, and ensuring their implementation
- Raise Security & Business Resilience awareness amongst all staff by organisingperiodic table-top exercises (GLMR as a priority).
- Manage the security & transport services function in the assigned location(s), whichincludes managing an extensive guard force.
- Manage the security provider and ensure that all contractual obligations are met.
- Oversee the management of Public Security Forces personnel & ensure adherenceto the UN Voluntary Principles on Security & Human rights (UNVPSHR) / SecurityServices with integrity
- Provide daily, monthly, and as required, incident-based reports in order to support theimplementation of mitigation measures as deemed necessary.
- Oversee, drive and implement the ‘Security Blueprint’; ensuring that respective ActionPlans are accurate and reflective.
- Contribute holistically to the business effort and ensure no ‘silo mentality’ takes holdof management in both the department & at Plant locations.
- Provide leadership, experience & expertise wherever such a contribution is deemedto be in support of the business and the overall goals set for management.
- Ensure to maintain a detailed understanding of the local community setting, historicalparameters and existing communications channels.
- Keep log on operational issues ensuring the maintenance of a security incidentarchive (Incident Report Tracker / Security Incident Notification Tool)
- Conduct and manage the GS&R Security Risk Assessment (SRA), and follow up onAction Plans’ generated.
- Periodically review and ensure implementation of the GS&R Site Mapping Application(SMA) across respective operational sites.
- Implementation of the Security & Resilience Management System (SRMS) acrossrespective sites.
- Ensure the implementation of Security Services with Integrity (SSI), and work closelywith respective stakeholders for support.
- Maintain a close relationship, including holding regular meetings, with thecommanders of Public Security Forces (PSF):
- Nigeria Police Force: Commissioner of Police; Assistant Inspector General(AIG) who is charge of the Police Zone; Head of the State Intelligence andInvestigation Bureau (SIIB)
- Department of State Security (DSS)
- Army
- Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)(if applicable)
- State comptrollers
- Customs (if applicable)
- Any other PSF that may be particular to the respective site locations
Security:
- Manage the security dimension in remote locations in a production Plantenvironment.
- The Regional Security Manager is part of a security team, which is to be fully managed. This includes:Close supervision of all staff, monitoring & managing performance, application of &adherence to company rules & regulations.
- Assign & monitor tasks.
- Familiar with carrying out & recording of ‘Site Security Assessments’ (SSA)
- Provide feedback that allow to improve department & local team performance,increase efficiency and economize on resources with a focus on cost reduction
Planning:
The Regional Security Manager is to write & maintain various existing & future security plans. These are required to keep staff & assets safe with success being based on an excellent understanding of the environment (Ecosystem), in which we operate, and the capabilities of Public Security Forces deployed in support of the Lafarge operations.
- It is a critical task of the Regional Security Manager to ensure that all security plans are kept current, constantly reviewed and exercised as much as is possible and feasible within the Plant & community setting
- Event based security planning including convoy planning, vulnerability assessments, and similar
- Ensure that pertinent plans are uploaded into the Nigeria Security & Resilience Management System (SRMS).
Transport Services:
In this capacity the Regional Security Manager ensures all transport missions are carried out with thin the rules & regulations of the business while in parallel ensuring the security & safety of all travellers.
- Oversee the management of the ‘light vehicle’ fleet throughout the country. This includes all planning & administrative steps before and when committing transport services as requested by the business.

Human resources (HR):
General
- The Regional Security Manager must be familiar with the HR Handbook & the Code of Business Conduct (CoBC) in order to understand all HR-related rules & regulations.
- The Regional Security Manager is responsible for staff to meet their daily tasks, monthly KPIs & workloads.
- The Regional Security Manager is to safeguard the highest level of service quality in the to the department’s ‘customers’, application of company rules & regulations and discipline of department staff.
- Lafarge has adopted the highest level of ethical standards. This includes the treatment of all staff with dignity & respect. The Regional Security Manager is to ensure that these standards are ‘lived’ while preventing any hostilities within the workforce. This is to be implemented beyond ethnic lines and behaviour of members of other departments.
Mentoring - The Regional Security Manager is to actively develop capacities of departmental staff. To this end the Regional Security Manager is to identify in which areas individual staff members can improve & excel with increasing experience, structured knowledge acquisition & supervised implementation of security policies to the point that they can reliable take on & successfully manage assigned tasks.

Working and living conditions
- The working & living conditions can be challenging. The Regional Security Manager may be required to travel extensively to sites within the southwest region.
- The Plants are quite remote with very limited access to amenities & recreational facilities.
- Work requires a 24/7 readiness to manage the security dimension.
- Work in a gender-diverse team comprised of staff from different ethnicities, religions & nationalities.
- Criminals and/or terrorists can target the facilities at any time with limited and/or no support from ‘Public Security Forces’ (PSF), and limited or no advance operational intelligence on imminent criminal and/or terrorist attacks.
What we are looking for
- Advanced medical training and/or qualifications
- Criminal investigations experience
- Qualifications in training staff
- Kidnap for ransom (K4R): Experience and/or managementqualifications
- Project management experience and/or qualifications
- Extensive work and/or management experience in securityrelated field (e.g.: firefighting, close protection, armoured vehicle operations & maintenance,and similar)
- Expertise in ‘security systems’: Electronic security, CCTV,alarm systems, access design, lighting, and similar)
- ICT skills
- Experience in the construction sector
- Experience in quality control recording & measurement
- Utilization (Planning, using & maintaining) of VHF radionetworks
- Executive level & security report writing experience.
Personal Development
If the candidate does not have a formal security manager qualification:
- To commit to undergo either an ASIS or ISMI qualificationto be completed
- Career security background
- Private Security experience (10 years minimum)
- Military (not essential)
- Police (not essential)
- Africa, ideally sub-Saharan Africa, experience.
- Experience in managing commercial dimensions in acorporate environment (Planning, Business development,Risk Management).
- The Regional Security Manager must have held a leadership role including having successfully passed the associated trainings.
- International operational deployment experience
- Corporate appointment in security management.
- Experience with holding operational briefings and/orcontribute executive content to briefings on all levels ofmanagement.
- Map reading, terrain assessments and transcribinglocation data into maps, planning tools or briefings.
Preferred
- Africa, ideally sub-Saharan Africa, experience.
- Experience in managing commercial dimensions in acorporate environment (Planning, Business development,Risk Management)
Key Interfaces, Relationships
- The Regional Security Manager works closely with the local Business Resilience Team, Plant Management Team, and where necessary, Group Security.
