ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Operations Manager for the Southern Alberta Aggregate Division, the Aggregates Operations Analyst would provide operational, sales and technical resource support for the Southern Alberta Aggregates Team. This is a developmental role and an opportunity to gain widespread expertise within the Aggregates business with the ultimate goal of building a long-term career with Lafarge.
This opportunity is part of Lafarge’s New Graduate Development Path (NGDP). As part of the NGDP two-year journey, new graduates are provided with opportunities to connect with other new grads, gain exposure to various aspects of the Lafarge business, and embark on their own learning and development journey through e-learning and scheduled monthly Learning & Development sessions. The NGDP provides a head start for recently graduated individuals entering the workforce while fostering a strong sense of community within Lafarge.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Provide technical support for all areas of the business including operations, sales and estimating, quality control, and project management
- Assist area management in planning, coordinating and supervising production activities
- Ensure accurate inventory control and production reporting by validating physical inventories and maintaining up-to-date data entry in SAP
- Work closely with managers and foremen on pit and plant optimization
- Participate and support foremen regarding safety and production tracking and targets
- Participate in monthly meetings outlining improvement opportunities
- Coordinate with sales, project managers, quality control personnel, and plant production on project details, scheduling, and problem resolution
- Assisting to develop strategies and objectives for sales, pricing and profitability
- Conduct plant, site, and structural inspections to ensure quality standards are met and to proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: University Degree / Technical Diploma
Field of Study Preferred: Engineering or Business
Required Work Experience: Up to 2 years experience in providing operational support
Required Technical Skills: MS Office, Google Suite
Additional Requirements:
- Strong computer technical aptitude to learn new systems and programs
- Ability to make rational decisions and resolve conflict
- A team leader with excellent negotiation, communication and people skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter / Problem solver / Self-disciplined
- Good presentation and interpersonal skills
- Confidence to work independently, safely, and travel to remote gravel pits
- On-site construction experience would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) would be considered an asset
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
