Job Purpose
The Project Engineer is responsible for managing and executing engineering projects, ensuring
the smooth integration of new equipment, systems, and processes within the facility to improve
operational efficiency while adhering to safety standards, and ensuring compliance with industry
regulations.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Execution: Lead and manage engineering projects from concept

       through completion, including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, resource
       allocation, and risk management.

  • Design & Optimization: Collaborate with design teams to develop and optimize

       equipment and systems for the EPDM manufacturing process, ensuring alignment with
       safety, quality, and efficiency standards.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, provide

       recommendations, and implement modifications to enhance production capacity, reduce
       costs, and improve product quality.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality,

       maintenance, and other engineering teams to ensure project objectives are met and
       facility operations are supported effectively.

  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all projects comply with relevant health, safety,

       environmental, and quality standards. Monitor and manage the safety and regulatory
       compliance aspects of the project.

  • Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to operations teams,

       troubleshooting issues and identifying solutions to complex engineering challenges.

  • Project Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed project

       documentation, including design plans, specifications, budgets, schedules, and progress
       reports.

  • Vendor & Contractor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and

       contractors, ensuring they meet project specifications, deadlines, and quality standards.

  • Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Provide prompt solutions to issues that arise

       during project implementation, minimizing downtime and disruptions to production.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or

       related field).

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in engineering project management,

       preferably in manufacturing, chemical, or EPDM industries.

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of EPDM manufacturing processes, machinery, and

       equipment. Familiarity with process automation, control systems, and facility
       maintenance.

  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in CAD software, project management tools (e.g.,

       Microsoft Project, Primavera), and other engineering design tools.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on

       continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to

       collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage projects, coordinate teams, and

       influence key stakeholders.

  • Certifications (Preferred): Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma, or

       similar certifications.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of EPDM production processes and relevant industry standards.
  • Experience with capital expenditure projects and budgeting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail

       and quality.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in

       engineering and manufacturing processes.

 

Working conditions

  • The Project Engineer will be based in an EPDM manufacturing facility, requiring

       occasional site visits to evaluate project progress, inspect equipment, and collaborate with
       the operational teams.

  • Some travel may be required for vendor or contractor management, training, or other

       project-related activities.

 

Physical requirements

  • May require lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, and occasional travel for

       vendor visits or training.
