ABOUT THE ROLE

Labourers are essential for supporting various construction activities on job sites and for industry clients. In this position, you'll be responsible for loading and unloading materials, operating basic equipment, and ensuring the worksite is clean and organized within the BHP Billiton - Jansen Mine Site. You will play a crucial role in maintaining smooth operations and supporting the project's progress. This position requires a strong work ethic, a collaborative attitude, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

 

This is a camp position. Food and lodging are provided for the duration of employment. The candidate must have their own transportation for commuting to and from the site during the rotation.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH 

  • Responsible for refueling construction machinery and vehicles, ensuring they are fueled up and ready for use.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the construction yard by sweeping, picking up debris, and disposing of waste materials in designated areas.

  • Assist construction workers and equipment operators with various tasks as needed, such as carrying materials, digging trenches, and operating hand tools.

  • Assist in loading and unloading materials, equipment, and supplies from trucks and trailers.

  • Keep the work area clean and hazard-free by removing debris, sweeping, and disposing of waste materials properly.

  • Operate basic construction equipment under supervision, such as compactors, jackhammers, and forklifts, following safety protocols and guidelines.

  • Strictly adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team members.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or project manager to support the smooth operation of the construction site.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Schedule: 14 days on, 7 days off
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent 
Required Work Experience: Basic knowledge of construction equipment and tools is an asset.
Required Training/Certifications: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is preferred.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

  • Physically fit and able to perform manual labor tasks in various weather conditions.

  • Able to lift 55 lbs

  • Able to work in a fast-paced, high-production environment

  • Able to work unsupervised

  • Demonstrates commitment to safety for oneself and others

  • Time and self-management skills as part of a team or independently

  • Demonstrate strong skills in problem-solving, decision making and multi-tasking

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
