About the Role
Quarry Operations Engineer to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of our limestone quarry. The role ensures safe, efficient, and sustainable extraction practices while consistently delivering the required material quality and quantities to support plant production.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement mining strategies to optimize resource extraction and extend quarry life.
- Design and monitor bench geometry to ensure slope stability, efficiency, and compliance with safety standards.
- Manage and interpret block models to align production with geological resources and plant needs.
- Conduct and oversee sampling and quality control to ensure materials meet specifications.
- Plan and supervise blasting operations, ensuring safety, precision, and cost efficiency.
- Use quarry engineering and design software (e.g., QSO Expert, AutoCAD, Surpac, or similar) to prepare 3D models, technical drawings, and operational plans.
- Oversee topographic surveys, maintain accurate maps, and update quarry records.
- Collaborate with processing plant teams to deliver the right material quality and volumes.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
- Train and mentor quarry staff on operational best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years in quarry operations or open-pit mining, with at least 3 years in a supervisory/engineering role.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Bench design and blasting techniques
- Quarry planning and resource management
- Block model interpretation and geological analysis
- Material quality management in cement, aggregate, or construction industries
- Software Proficiency:
- QSO Expert or equivalent quarry operation software
- AutoCAD, Surpac, or other 3D modeling/design tools
- GIS/Topographic survey tools
- Other Skills:
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and quarry maps
- Effective leadership and communication skills
Preferred Attributes
- Experience in quarry engineering design and geological mapping.
- Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices in mining operations.
- Proven record of coordinating quarry operations with processing plants to meet production targets.
