Controls Engineer
ABOUT THE ROLE
Support controls system design and development for the controls systems in ACS manufacturing sites.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Develop and document standards for controls systems.
- Define scope and requirements for new controls projects.
- Assess existing systems and prepare plans for improvements.
- Troubleshoot controls related breakdowns and lead resolution activities.
- Manage external contractors to ensure adequate on site support is in place and effective.
- Ensure electrical schematics are maintained as changes are made.
- Identify and document system vulnerabilities and craft mitigation action plans.
- Perform instrumentation troubleshooting and rebuilding.
- Develop and implement controls and instrumentation maintenance plans, including preventive maintenance (PM) procedures for controls hardware.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Experience with PLC programming in an Allen Bradley environment, both writing logic for new installation and troubleshooting existing code.
- History of working with a variety of drives, flow controllers, weighing systems, proximity sensors, position sensors, and similar field devices.
- Strong knowledge of PLC networking, OT networking, Remote IO, etc.
- Design and development experience for controls systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience reading electrical diagrams and troubleshooting in the field.
- 4 year degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with batch operations and control systems.
- Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
- Experience in developing Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for operator interaction.
- Familiarity with databases for data logging and reporting in a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP.
- Experience using version control systems for PLC code and other control system software.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Office located in manufacturing plant (Rockland, MA).
- In the field includes outdoors and inside manufacturing plants to troubleshoot instrumentation, access controls panels, etc.
- Travel required to manufacturing locations as needed, approximately 30%.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive Compensation - the starting salary range for this position is $110,000–$140,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
