ABOUT THE ROLE

The QC Technician is responsible for performing necessary tasks involved in the quality control procedures and ISO certification. The position also performs standard R & D tasks as needed.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Benchwork: Operate mixing machines, weigh raw material, batching, add additives and pigments and blend material according to written formulas and worksheets to produce specified product listed on work orders.
  • Work with the Production Supervisor to plan, coordinate and control mixing activities, keeping him/her informed of work order status (e.g. estimated time of completion, etc.).
  • Participate in all QC processes and ISO certification processes.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of the Q.C.  laboratory and maintaining the required supply of Q.C. laboratory stock items (e.g. gloves, paper towels, application equipment, etc.).
  • Responsible for filing drawdowns and keeping them up to date.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Production Supervisor & Plant Manager.
  • Match color formulas and correct finished goods color batches.
  • Follow all safety regulations
  • Review completed product mixes to ensure the best possible quality is manufactured.
  • Work with production personnel to correct any detected product variances.
  • Work with production/R&D to correct any detected product variances.
  • Must be able to maintain QC computer databases and generate reports ( CoA, CoC, etc).
  • Organize and maintain the lab and desk areas following the principles of 5S.
  • Maintains calibration records for lab equipment.
  • Other duties as requested.


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum one (1) year manufacturing experience, preferably as a batch operator in an industry related environment required.
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to interpret SDS's and understand Hazardous Identification System.
