Job Description


The Distribution Center Manager is fully accountable for managing and directing all aspects
of the Distribution Center operation. This includes ensuring adequate staffing and continuous
improvement by optimizing operations to provide HBE’s customers with top levels of
service.

 


Duties and Responsibilities


● Provide effective leadership to supervisor and team members to deliver positive KPI
results.
● Build a strong culture with a customer & team-focused environment.
● Accountable for all safety and performance at the facility. Drive a culture of Safety where
"What you say matters, what you do matters".
● Ensure appropriate staffing with the required capabilities to perform their roles with
excellence.
● Maintain the 5S standard of the assigned area.
● Utilizing the Shipping Heijunka, manage receiving/shipping activity to execute on time
delivery.
● Ensure process in place to drive accurate inventory reporting, including maintaining
timely cycle counts.
● Collaborate with other HBE plants/DCs, participate in best practice recommendations,
process standardization and significant accomplishment sharing.
● Analyze and report on KPI's and activities driving improvement.
● Communicate targets, objectives, and goals throughout the DC team to where the team
understands the impact their daily work has on the overall business performance.
● Support and maintain an environment of continuous improvement that parallels company
objectives, establish standards.
● Maintain the use of Lean tools to optimize facility operation.
● Follow all Standard Work Instructions and ensure employees are adhering to procedures.
● Drive optimal facility layout and efficient pick paths.
● Assure all functions operate in accordance with company safety policy, also in
compliance with DOT, OSHA and all other Federal, State, and Local regulations.
● Support root cause analysis for service concerns.
● Set goals and objectives to support teammate success and advancement.
● Lead project analysis as requested.
● Manage customer relationships.
● Proactively communicate with the corporate office any challenges with carrier service or
capacity
● Responsible for DC budget and expense management
● Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
● BS Degree required. Preferably in Logistics/Business Administration
● 10 years of progressive responsibility in a Logistics environment including 4 years of
supervisory experience and 4 years of warehousing experience
● Knowledge of Warehouse Management Software preferred


 
Working Conditions

 

● The working conditions include an indoor, dusty non-temperature controlled, industrial
manufacturing and warehouse environment. Subject to varying cold and hot temperatures
and occasional outdoor activities in hot or adverse weather.
● Able to work with PPE requirements.
● Minimal travel requirements, 10%
Physical requirements
● Must be able to lift up to 50lbs including use of lifting assistance devices
