Maintenance Planner
Job Description
The Maintenance Planner position strengthens the productivity and efficiency of the maintenance
department and 3 rd party services of EPDM facilities by ensuring future plant preventive and
corrective maintenance tasks are properly planned, required parts are available and activities fit
within available maintenance labor schedules.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create detailed job plans for non-routine plant preventive and corrective maintenance
activities by researching equipment history, identifying all requirements for safe and efficient
completion, listing important steps, and following up on technician feedback.
- Review and update existing preventive and corrective maintenance procedures and PMs.
- Identify and assemble necessary spare parts and consumables into “kits” before they’re
needed by the maintenance technicians or third parties.
- Work with internal and external maintenance resources to create detailed scopes of work for
plant improvement projects.
- Manages in-plant projects as needed and may be called upon to supervise maintenance
teammates
- Performs engineering review of proposed new equipment designs to assess reliability, ease
of maintenance, and availability of replacement parts
- Interact directly with production and other plant teammates in a professional manner
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create work orders,
prepare work schedules, and research spare parts. Act as CMMS Site Administrator.
- Follow corporate Work Management standards and participate in the continuous
improvement of the planning and scheduling processes
- Comply with all safety and environmental protocols relating to operations
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma
- Experience using a CMMS for maintenance purposes
- Five or more years’ experience in an industrial environment as a maintenance employee
performing Preventive (planned) and Corrective (unplanned) Maintenance
- Knowledge of and experience working in all the following areas:
- Mechanical
- Power Transmission – chains, belts, gearboxes, bearings, brakes, couplings, etc.
- Lubrication – oils, greases, storage and handling, application, etc.
- Hydraulics & Pneumatics – valves, actuators, compressors and pumps, piping and tubing, etc.
- Electrical
- DC Circuits – relays, contactors, power supplies, etc.
- AC Circuits (120V to 480V) – motors, drives, transformers, etc.
- Process Control
- Industrial Automation – robotics, PID, machine control, etc.
- PLCs & Networking – communication, signals, I/O, LANs, etc.
- Mechanical
Desired:
- Associates degree or 2+ years of vocational training
- Experience with maintenance technologies such as Vibration Analysis, Thermography,
Ultrasound Inspection, Oil Analysis, and Precision Alignment
- Certifications in mechanical/industrial fields (electrician, millwright, welding, etc.)
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT)
- Prior experience as a Maintenance Planner
Working Conditions
Indoor dusty, non-air-conditioned industrial manufacturing and warehouse environment that are
subject to temperatures that range from 65 to 90 degrees in the general working environment and
hotter in certain areas of the plant. Occasional outdoor activities in hot or adverse weather.
Twenty-four hour working environment with multiple shifts and varying schedules.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and perform duties on an elevated platform
- Ability to kneel, bend, reach and stoop
- Ability to read, interpret and utilize drawings and diagrams (electrical, piping, P&ID)
- Ability to pass a Mobile Equipment test
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time for training and data entry purposes
