Dangerous Goods Coordinator - Product Stewardship
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Responsible for crafting and implementing a dangerous goods (DG) program including analyzing products, product packaging and labeling, auditing, training, data management, and record management. Where any program aspects address NonHaz materials, those are also to be supported. This position serves as a Subject Matter Expert liaison for Holcim teams (R&D, Marketing, Operations, Distribution and Logistics) involved in all aspects of DG activities within the company and across many business units and more than a dozen sites. This person is responsible for compliance pertaining to the distribution of various products with a working knowledge of UN TDG, DOT, ICAO/IATA, IMO/IMDG, Canada TDG and the ADR regulations including hazardous material classification, labeling and marking, documentation. In addition, as part of a Product Stewardship team, this position will quickly grow to include other areas of Product Stewardship including SDS management, label design and development, and all other aspects of Product Stewardship.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Subject matter expert for packaging, marking, labeling, classification, material handling and distribution of dangerous materials.
• Analyzes hazardous materials (mostly chemicals), including proper shipping names and provide classification support. There is a stewardship and SDS team in place.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of standards and regulations for DOT, IMDG, IATA, multimodal, with understanding of international transport regulations as applicable.
• Aid in labeling and packaging design and development. (guidance, approval)
• Own and drive data management and Management of Change. Several ERPs with various processes to manage DG data. Participate in ERP improvement projects with regards to DGs.
• Prepare audit processes and activities, as well as document reviews, dangerous goods audit checklist
• Develop audit plans to maintain compliance to DG standards and procedures.
• Prepare working SOPs, documents.
• Support HAZMAT Registration/Certifications for applicable locations within the company, as needed
• Create and execute required training to Hazmat personnel, as needed.
• Assures proper packaging, documentation and handling of all hazardous materials shipments.
• Growth: The candidate will be expected to expand (with mentoring) into other areas of Stewardship including SDS, product Labeling. We are a small team and often need to support others in duties that might fall outside of the job description, but within Product Stewardship group as a whole.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
• Recent certified training in DOT & multimodal or the packaging and transport of dangerous goods. May not necessarily be currently held certifications. Competency in Canada TDG, ADR, UN TDG a plus.
• 5+ Years practical experience with Dangerous Goods or related regulatory or compliance program.
• Required Skills
o Working knowledge of national and international dangerous goods regulations, similarities and differences.
o Audit experience for Dangerous Goods compliance or related audit program.
o Project Management
o Strong aptitude and confidence in use of software tools: for ex ERP (SAP, AX, JOMAR or related)
