Product Manager, Asphalt
The Asphalt Product Manager is responsible and accountable for the Asphalt Product P&L and driving the strategic growth of Elevate’s Asphalt product category. This includes providing clear and customer centric inputs to product development, product rationalization, market positioning, and market launch using a stage-gate process for all products in the Holcim Building Envelope Portfolio of that product category.

Responsibilities of the Product Manager include:
Lead the development and implementation of a:
- Comprehensive understanding of the asphalt markets Elevate is competing in, both on a macro-economic and product-specific scale. In alignment with sales and management, analyze our product solution sales and profitability along our sales channels
- Comprehensive understanding of the competitive landscape and the customer value of our product solutions. Clearly define our product line & system value proposition vs competing products (TPO, EPDM, liquid asphalt etc) as well as market competitors.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (R&D, sales, manufacturing, customers, distributors, specifiers, etc) to define a winning product line and system strategy.
- Develop content for sales/technical tools (AIA presentations, training, sample specifications, etc) to help grow and drive sales. Monitor and track specification position, potential case studies, and “iconic” projects won.
- Monitor and track warranted square footage, system sales (dollars and margin/square foot), customer behaviors, etc
- Monitor and track product quality as well as product and system claims. Work with cross functional team to understand solution issues.
- Work with marketing to develop product line marketing strategy. Responsible to develop technical & training content, as well as product launch strategy.
- Lead a cross functional team with sales, marketing, R&D, procurement and manufacturing that meets regularly to drive product line progress and development.
- Define product line sustainability strategy from formulation, procurement, manufacture, to install and end of life.
- Regular, strategic customer relationship strategy in alignment with sales to assess customer and industry needs and to identity strategic customer partnerships for launching new products
- Life cycle strategy to optimize our existing product solution portfolio with a focus on optimizing cost, complexity and portfolio efficiency and effectiveness related to business impact.
- Product solution roadmap to expand our product solution portfolio to drive growth through innovation and new product solutions.

- Special projects as requested by management
Ensure
- Continuous product line growth in sales and margin
- On going product line maintenance, simplifying and reformulating as needed.
- Grow and maintain product line “vitality” index.
- Alignment with the organization, especially sales, field technical experts and management.
- Effective and efficient communication to customers, working teams and management
- Support of cross-functional projects as prioritized by the business
- Support of marketing activities as prioritized by management
- Support of pricing activities with market and competitive data in coordination with sales and management.
Required
- BS degree in Engineering/Business or related field, MBA Preferred;
- Direct experience and knowledge base in modified bitumen roofing products a must
- 10 years progressive experience in Engineering/Technology/Marketing/Sales functions or related field.
- Experience in a combination of the following areas: Project Management, Product Management, Product Development, Marketing & Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance for a Building Material major supplier.
- Experience in managing a portfolio of products related to Construction industry, B2B or Industrial goods.
- Travel required up to 25%
- Data driven personality with strong interpersonal skills and analytical capabilities. Excel capabilities is a must.
