WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Develops new and innovative urethane Spray Foam products. Given a technical and/or commercial target, this role is accountable for the timely formulation development from concept to final product including technical feasibility, timeline, materials and formulation, technical documentation, and communication of progress. Provides technical support to operations for existing products including raw material qualification and approval as needed. Provides technical support to Marketing and Sales as well as external customers regarding products and applications. This position may require travel up to 20% for internal and external meetings.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for providing timely technical solutions to meet the business’ targets for profitable sales growth in the insulation market
• Builds a thorough knowledge and understanding of the target application, any short-and long-term product performance needs and associated approval processes
• Conducts reasonably thorough paper research (patents, TDS, SDS, etc.), cultivates relationships & dialogues with suppliers as needed, generates benchmarking, and ensure Raw materials are in house to front load product development projects with a parallel (not sequential) approach – fast track
• Efficiently develop technically appropriate (“as good as” or “better than”) but cost-effective products while minimizing our Raw material footprint where practical.
• Actively drive the formulation development and provide regular project updates

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
• Demonstrates a general understanding of Holcim Building Envelope business philosophies and strategies.
• Extensive and broad working knowledge of urethanes from both an application and technical perspective to better understand the company’s target markets
• Utilizes scientific principles and methods to evaluate materials and applications.
• Strong communication, organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to effectively multitask while driving assignments to completion.
• Strong work ethic with high level of trustworthiness and teamwork. Must be able to work independently while being part of a cohesive team.
• Fluent with Google and Microsoft tools.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Requires B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or a related field
• Proven ability to work effectively in a focused Product Management culture
• Knowledge of urethane chemistry is a plus.

• Provide technical support such as trials, wet analyses, physical testing, sampling and training to internal and external stakeholders with existing or new products
• Possess a working knowledge of lab equipment (viscometer, titrators, UTM, etc.) and PU spray/pour equipment to evaluate formulations, etc. May have support from lab technicians or field technical service.
• Compiles data and supports preparation of technical tools (application guidelines, technical data sheets, safety data sheets, certification submissions, etc.)
• Responsible for scale up and on-going manufacturing of assigned products (manufacturing procedures, QA/QC procedures, round robins, QC approvals, batch adjustments, raw material offset approvals, etc.)
• Organize, investigate, resolve and document possible product concerns in a timely fashion (root cause analysis) and implement corrective actions to maintain and/or re-establish product performance (internal complaint management)
• Anticipates technical issues and applies insight and creativity to pro-actively address 

• Collaborates cross functionally, fosters teamwork through cooperation with Sales, Procurement, Codes and Operations to achieve revenue and profitability objectives.
