Logistics Manager, Containers & Multimodal
SUMMARY OF THE JOB
The Logistics Manager, Containers & Multimodal is in charge of implementing supply-chain solutions for Group and non-Group customers and suppliers, with tangible returns - global freight forwarding. This position involves strategic planning, effective management of logistics partners (focus on containers), inventory, and distribution (trucks), with a focus on enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the seamless flow of goods and services. Knowledge and experience in dealing with the entire product range, technical knowledge of all transportation modals - with a focus on containers, supplemented by a strong commercial and financial acumen to develop associated business cases, is key to delivering results in this role.
MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement supply chain and logistic strategies and solutions in alignment with strategic objectives - freight forwarding.
- Monitor and analyze supply chain metrics, such as inventory levels, cost, delivery times, and quality, define the KPIs and tracking methodologies to continuously identify areas of improvement - creating business cases.
- Design and implement adequate processes and procedures to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce cost and increase speed and quality of delivered services.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in accordance with the Holcim guidelines and policies and state of the art practices in the supply chain.
- Lead the selection and management of suppliers, vendors, and third-party logistics providers.
- Lead the contract negotiations and agreements with suppliers and vendors such as: Logistics and Transportation Providers, container shipping lines, 3PL, Technology and IT suppliers, Storage companies, Shipping lines, Forwarding companies, Custom brokers, etc.
- Collaborate with various internal stakeholders identifying business opportunities (incl. risks & return), providing accurate business case studies for new and existing growth opportunities, ensure their approval and execution - end-to-end
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain through the implementation of best practices and innovative technologies - including digitalisation
- Provide business intelligence and competitive benchmarking.
PROFILE REQUIRED
Education/ Qualification:
- A higher education degree in Business/Logistics/freight forwarding is a must.
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in global Logistics / Supply Chain / freight forwarding positions and/or in chemical industry
- Commercial experience and ability to negotiate with customers/suppliers, collaborate and influence internal stakeholders - freight forwarding
- Evidence of strong business and strategic acumen - relationship management
Knowledge and skills:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills and ability to effectively engage in multicultural environments - apply freight forwarding knowledge to internal stakeholders (shippers or other internal departments)
