Role Overview

The Logistics & Supply Chain Intern is a 6-month developmental role designed for students looking to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of international commodity trading. Sitting within the Holcim Trading team, you will act as a vital support bridge between our Logistics Manager, suppliers, and global vendors. Your contribution will directly impact our operational efficiency as you help gather data for business cases, support the digitalization of our supply chain, and ensure our supplier databases are accurate. This is an ideal opportunity to apply academic theory to global trade operations while helping Holcim maintain its position as a leader in sustainable construction materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support digitalization and innovation by assisting in the rollout of new supply chain tools and helping the team adopt digital workflows.

  • Gather and analyze business data to support the development of case studies and track the progress of ongoing logistics projects.

  • Monitor and report on supply chain metrics, preparing regular performance summaries that help the team identify areas for improvement.

  • Provide administrative support for contract management, ensuring all supplier databases and records are accurate and up to date.

  • Facilitate daily communication between the Logistics Manager and our network of international suppliers and vendors to ensure smooth operations.

  • Conduct competitive benchmarking research and gather industry intelligence to keep the team informed on market trends and competitor activity.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous regular or summer internships or active involvement in extra-curricular activities is a plus.

  • Ideally a student in their final two years of study (Bachelor’s or Master’s) focusing on Logistics, Supply Chain, or Commodity Trading.

  • Strong proficiency in the MS Office Suite (especially Excel); an interest in digital tools and data query technologies is highly valued.

  • A highly motivated team player with a competitive mindset and a strong appetite for learning about geo-political topics and multinational cultures.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks in a fast-moving environment.

  • Proficient working fluency in English is required. Any additional languages are considered an asset.
