ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Regional Manager Health & Safety (H&S) continuously monitors and improves H&S performance through communication, implementation of corrective actions for identified risks, and regional H&S advocacy. The incumbent manages the implementation of company safety programs, policies, and procedures. Be responsible for adapting and/or developing risk-focused H&S programs to suit the specific requirements of the assigned regional business. The incumbent will concurrently assist with the development and planning of certain national projects. The Sr. Regional Manager H&S will provide independent, objective feedback to management regarding achievements and regional performance as it pertains to safety standards, policies, and procedures. Manages subordinate(s) within various, dissimilar local markets across multiple product segments.
Further, as a strategic business partner with key business partners, the Sr. Regional Manager H&S must utilize best business practices and metrics to improve organizational safety. Responsibilities will further include the development of policy and programs to ensure efficient operations, maintaining adequate internal controls and ensuring the internal controls are adhered to and kept up to date. The Sr. Regional Manager H&S must maintain current knowledge of internal control changes and be involved with the refinement of internal control processes as necessary. The Sr. Regional Manager H&S strives for continuous improvement within the operations and challenges conventional thinking in order to obtain the most efficient solutions to issues.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Direct the region’s safety program to meet overall company safety requirements through initiation and promotion of day-to-day safety policies and the development and delivery of safety training activities for employees and management.
- Implement programs to support business groups and strategic safety initiatives. Coordinate communications of occupational hazards and risks to both managers and the workforce. Assist with the design of national standards programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury.
- Conducts or oversees audits and inspections and validates adherence to company policy, laws, and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals.
- Participate in the investigation of serious incidents and injuries and advise in the preparation of material and evidence for the organization to use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
- Advises on compliance matters and interacts with operating locations regarding interaction with state and federal agencies as needed (MSHA, OSHA, DOT, USCG, FRA, DOH, etc.).
- Prepares and delivers ad hoc reports with accuracy and timeliness. Advise the Regional Head regarding effective resource deployment.
- Organizes and implements Group H&S programs in conjunction with regional safety strategic plans and a consistent health and safety optimization strategy.
- Reduces losses by establishing and enforcing effective safety policies and loss control programs by anticipating and preventing hazardous conditions and by overseeing the training of personnel in safety and health procedures. Works directly with regional management and staff to improve training and knowledge in all areas of safety in and around company facilities.
- Develops, evaluates, and implements effective safety awareness programs. Includes promotions of safety posters, banners, shirts, etc. Track the initiative from start to finish.
- Performs acquisition-related due diligence and integration of functional requirements. Completes management of change requirements for process or operational changes. Generates regional and product line performance criteria
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree
Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Safety, Health or other related discipline
Required Work Experience: 10-15 years
Required Training/Certifications: Safety related certification preferred
Required Technical Skills: Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and SAP experience.
Travel Requirements: 45%
Additional Requirements:
- Sound knowledge of Aggregate and Construction Materials, or large industrial manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience with local, state, and federal laws and other government compliance regulations.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit test.
