ABOUT THE ROLE:
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Welder to support our Night shift plant operations in Accokeek, Maryland. This position is primarily responsible for the operation of plant processing equipment at a quarry. This position typically works from 6:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Overtime will be required and shift times may be adjusted for business needs.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Inspect Welds: Ensure completed welds meet project standards by performing visual inspections and using measuring tools to check for accuracy.
- Prepare Materials: Clean, cut, grind, and prepare metal pieces for welding by following project specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain high-quality welds, ensuring they are strong, aesthetically pleasing, and free of defects.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain welding equipment safely, ensuring proper calibration and handling of tools and machinery.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures, including wearing appropriate protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety guidelines for welding operations.
- Troubleshoot Issues: Identify and resolve any issues with welding equipment, techniques, or material compatibility.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including engineers, fabricators, and supervisors, to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of welding activities, materials used, and any quality control tests.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Proven experience as a welder 3-5 years in a manufacturing, construction, or fabrication environment.
- Welding Techniques: Proficiency in various welding methods, especially those related to Stick & Mig welding
- Welding Safety: Knowledge of proper safety protocols for handling welding equipment and working in potentially hazardous environments.
- Fabrication Skills: Ability to fabricate metal parts or structures by welding various metal plates
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read blueprints, welding schematics, and technical drawings.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in welding work.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and address welding challenges or material inconsistencies.
- Safety-Conscious: Knowledge of safety standards in welding and ability to maintain a safe work environment.
- Licenses Required/ Preferred:Certifications: AWS (American Welding Society) certification or equivalent (Preferred).
- Required Computer and Software Skills: Basic computer skills
- Ability to work in all weather conditions without limitations.
- Ability to lift 50lbs
