ABOUT THE ROLE
The Field Mechanic will perform field service repairs on various construction equipment consisting of heavy highway, pipeline, utility and quarry application with the flexibility of shop assignments for major repairs.
This position comes with a $1,500 sign-on bonus.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Responsible for major and minor repair/service of equipment fleet consisting of wheel loaders, dozers, scrapers, excavators, and trucks involving drive train, power train, hydraulics, air, electrical and AC systems
- Effectively operate and inspect equipment to diagnose defects. Analyze faults using diagnostic equipment
- Safely use hoists, cranes and hand tools to breakdown/reassemble heavy components
- Weld or solder broken parts and/or structural members using gas or electric welders and soldering equipment
- Utilize service manuals and technical drawings to troubleshoot, identify and order parts as needed
- Perform general or routine equipment inspections and repairs
- Perform all repairs in a safe, productive, efficient and cost-effective manner
- Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills
- Possess own tools required to effectively perform equipment repairs
- Attend formal safety training and technical training seminars
- May perform Oiler related duties as required to maintain fleet
RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER JOBS
This position will work with shop personnel along with quarry and field operations. They will communicate and work together to ensure the customer’s needs are met in a safety and constructive manner.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education: High school diploma or GED required
Experience: 1+ year in construction industry required; 3-5 years of equivalent experience in heavy equipment field technician or as an Oiler preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, and speak well (English)
- Basic math skills (American system of metrics; English)
- Valid Driver’s License

- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
