ABOUT THE ROLE
Responsible for determining the survey schedule for each operational quarry across assigned regions to include annual topographic updates and inventory (product stock) surveys and ensuring aggregate site compliance with the corporate inventory policy, i.e. “US Inventory Manager”. Additional duties include greenfield site surveys, site investigation, drilling surveys, face updates, mine plans and civil/engineering/plant layout.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Assists in carrying out field surveys using GPS, total stations, and levels
- Support data collection, measurement, and layout of construction sites
- Help interpret technical drawings, and plans under supervision
- Assist in prepareing survey reports, documentation and site records
- Learn to sue surveying software (e.g., AutoCad, Civil 3D, Trimble)
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
- Follow all health and safety protoccols on-site
- Measures distances, directions and angles between points and elevations of pints, lines and contours.
- Selects survey reference points and determines the precise location of important features in the survey area using specialized equipment including a Global Positioning System (GPS) and robotic total station theodolite to locate reference points with a high degree of precision.
- Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor’s degree or 3 years’ experience in topographical ground surveying preferably with experience in the quarrying or similar industry.equivalent experience.
Field of Study Preferred: Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management
Required Training/Certifications: Qualification as a state registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) a distinct advantage (allows issue of PLS stamped survey and property plans required for planning permits, state construction jobs etc). Ability to obtain Part 107 Drone Pilot license within 3 months of employment
Required Computer and Software Skills: Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, CAD / Digital Terrain Modelling software and Riegl scanner processing
Travel Requirements: Up to 70% to company sites
Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
